If Elizabeth Warrens 1% tax on every dollar made after $50million only applies to individuals and not companies, I'm actually okay with that. What's $1 per $100 after you already are worth $50 million? And it actually could do some good

But that won't be it. It's never just the 1 dollar, it's more and more and more.

It’s so obvious. A vote for one of these people is a vote for expanding govt and the nanny state. A vote for one of these people is a vote saying you don’t believe in the individual and personal freedom and personal resonpibility and accountability.

I'm just saying that isn't that awful of a plan. Again if it applies to individuals, I'm guessing she is talking about taxing estates, corporations, LLPs, etc..

What right do you have to take someone's money simply because they have more than you?

If I have $50 and I'm standing in a room of 10 other people who have 1$ each. What right do they have to get together and decide to steal my money? How do you defend that?

You want more money? Start with eliminating unnecessary and over bloated government programs.

It is awful.

We pay too much in taxes already.

Try cutting the fat, trim down the scope and size of FedGov and there's no need to ever raise taxes again.

Do you not understand how the tax system works?

Yes I do. Do you care to answer the question?

Your question is answered by taxation. Generally the more money you have the more taxes you pay, that's the way the tax code works (more or less).

So do random people have the right to take money from someone who has more than them? No

Does the government have the right to tax people in order to provide services that help everyone in the country? Why yes, they actually do

I'm saying we should take a long hard look at government bloat and waste before we start taking more money from people.

And yes, I believe specifically income taxes are theft.

Increasing income taxes is just increasing theft. Plain and simple. You can try and argue and justify it all you want but it's theft.

I understand property taxes and to an extent sales taxes. People living in an area should fund governmental public goods for their area such as police, fire, education, etc... I even understand state taxes to a certain extent because we are a nation of states and we should support our own states.

But a 40% income tax that goes directly to the federal government to do with it as they wish? As far as I'm concerned that is indefensible theft. I work roughly 5 months out of the year for free as all of the money I make goes directly to the federal government.

Our federal government is wildly out of control and over funded and full of waste and bloat. The solution is not to dump more money into it. It is to slash it down.

My first step would be to eliminate the ability for taxes to be taken out of your paycheck. Every citizen should have to write a check at the end of the year to the government. That would make a ton of people more active and aware of what the go is doing with their tax money.

Are you really going to argue that our federal government is lacking the resources to do this? Or that it even does this at all with the majority of its budget?

Do you know how many healthy able bodied young people are on government assistance? There is absolutely no reason for a healthy young person to be on welfare. The government shouldn't be a safety net for shitty decision making. I have no problem with it being a temporary safety net for unexpected and extreme cases. Thats a public good.

Explain to me why we should raise federal taxes at all anywhere in this country before looking at waste and bloat.

Nope. If you want what I have then work for it just like I did and stop being a piece of shite.

I’m all for welfare for people who truly need it. But don’t you think the system has been taken advantage of by lazy asses that truly do not need it? Aren’t the abusers the real problem here?

So your answer to the abuse is more taxes that will lead to even more abuse?

Nah, frick that

Okay, you're against taxes that's fine, it's not realistic if you want to live in a modern day country, but that's fine

Those are local and state issues, you seem to be confused because the OP is referencing federal taxes

I'm against high federal income taxes. Don't twist my words. And don't be ignorant on purpose.

You're a fool. A blind fool. America can be the greatest modern country on earth without extremely high progressive federal income taxes.

You know what's not realistic at all?

Universal government funded Healthcare.
Universal basic government funded income.
Universal equality of outcome.
Endless war.
Unsecured borders.
Amnesty for illegal aliens
Unlimited unfiltered immigration
Socialism
