The question, as I understand it, was specifically on if he loses, but he seemed to answer a question about whether it's clear/unclear about who the winner is.

Well, this seems to be a matter that strategically speaking Trump doesn't really need to say yes or no, but must say something. So take your pick on how to best respond in this situation, but Trump's general approach is correct.
