No one wins against the blue road side. I don't care who you are or how well connected you may be.
The best play is to go along, exercise your right to the 5th amendment and then circle back to the issue.

Bingo. Some cops are assholes and abuse their authority, it's a sad fact of life. If you run across one, your instincts will be to stand up for yourself against them being jerks, but that is a fight you can't win. You have no other reasonable play than to try to defuse the situation and fight back later.

That’s the problem someone with a gun, a high school diploma, and unlimited power isn’t allowed to have “shitty days” nor is it any sort of excuse.

Great advice. Many cops want a reason to use their training.

You know how many times cops should ever bust into the wrong house and kill an innocent person? NONE. Never.
In a perfect world, you are absolutely correct.
Unfortunately, mistakes and frick-ups do and will occur.
A drunk driver plowing into and killing someone shouldn't happen either.
No one is condoning this shite.

It does. You know how many times cops should ever bust into the wrong house and kill an innocent person? NONE. Never. Whatever process leads to these rare cases must be rooted out. Same for the number of times cops should kneel on a mans neck until he dies. Stats won’t bring back either of the victims of these rare cases, both of which have occurred in the last two months. Stop excuse making for bad cops and bad policies.
I’m not making excuses for bad cops or bad policies. Ideally there should be NO mistakes made and or NO bad cops ....but we are dealing with human beings. Whenever you deal with humans, errors will be made and bad people will do bad things. The errors should be corrected and the bad people should be held to account.
But, if you know this....there are things that you can do to minimize your exposure to risk. This is a FACT. AND FACTS ARE STUBBORN THINGS.

Really?
I guess you expect absolute perfection then, right?
Good luck with those expectations. While it isn't bad to want that, it will never happen.

My dad's advice was much simpler: 'If a cop tells you to do something, do it. If you don't he will shoot you dead.' That advice has worked very well for me.
This has not worked so well for a not insignificant number of people that were mentally ill, deaf, or simply didn’t speak English. Including one instance where the cops killed a deaf man while bystanders were yelling to the cops that the guy is deaf, and another where a deaf teenager was stopped in his car and was shot while he was trying to show the cop his dash placard that said he was deaf. Unfortunately there are too many occurrences to list.

Hard to win in court given the immunities and biases within the system. Most prosecutors and judges may are no different than bad cops. It's a club and you ain't in it.
That's fine, but you're DEFINITELY not going to win a fight in the street

I’ve found just saying “yes sir” and acting normal and talking/joking around has gotten me out of shite I never should have gotten out of

With someone who has the power to take you to jail or use deadly force on American citizens? Sure I would love perfection, obviously, that’s not obtainable.
However, we’ve got a low bar for policing in the United States and it needs to be higher.

They beat the shite out of him but not too bad. Just punched him in the stomach a few times. I got out the truck and they threw me against the side of the truck.
After a bunch of yes sirs, no sirs, and saying sorry a bunch of times...they let us go with no ticket.
Somehow I’m OK with this.

I guess they have your permission not to pull infants out of wreaked cars after not being in a car seat.
They can breathe easier knowing none of their family will ever get cancer or other horrific disease.
And you can add their spouse will never leave them for any reason.
Cops are human and are afflicted with all of mankind’s frailties. The best aren’t there for the great pay. For a decent living most are working long hours on details. Exhaustion effects even your decisions.
When there are problems like in Minneapolis something needs to be done. In most cases (not all) some blame is on both sides. The most important point is don’t make a can’t win now situation worse.

Because it's measured street justice. It works great especially with teens that know they are being mischievous. They learn the lesson real quick without all the bureaucracy.

My father had a version of this talk that was basically funneled to him by his friends that were cops. Paraphrasing, it went like this:
"Most cops are uneducated halfwits that want to cruise around with a gun and tell people what to do. Also, 90% don't know a damn thing about the law, they just get a hard-on over what little power they have. Never trust them, never talk to them and if you end up situation with one of them, just go along until you can talk to a lawyer."
Luckily, I've never been in too bad of a situation, but the few interactions I've had, have given me zero evidence he was wrong.
Funny thing, is I'm friends with a few cops now, and they pretty much say the same thing. Half of the guys on the force are grade A pricks.
