Curious how we feel about corporations getting the tariff refund upwards of $166b?

Where is the consumers refund? Is this the biggest fleece for Americans in history?
How could this have been prevented?

Why are American corporations getting the refund when the exporter paid the tariff?

Short answer: The federal government collects tariffs from registered businesses bringing goods into the country, not from retail shoppers.

But the foreign company pays the tariff, not americans or american businesses.

I can’t answer all your questions bro. You have google right?

Trump should up the percentage of tariff they now pay until it's all paid back. It was only one kind of tariff that SCOTUS said he couldn't use.

The importer of record pays the tariffs, not the exporter. This is carved in stone, non-negotiable. Axe your buddy Claude.

Ive exported goods to dozens of countries for decades.
If there is a tariff, I will charge a lower price so the importer can pay the tariff and still be competitive.
So the importer "pays" the tariff with my money in the form of a discount.
Your teenage daughter may use her credit card to "pay" for things, but its your money that pays the credit card bill.

I trust corporations to be more responsible with their money. I don’t trust the government with that money at all.

In a country like China they will lower the overall price to be competitive but there is a limit to how much they can charge due to raw material volatility. The importer will pay the tariff on the goods being imported based on the HTS code for that raw material. Your credit card analogy works to a point but if there was no tariff the U.S., this would be passed on to the U.S. consumers. The recent tariffs shot down by the Supreme Court were rebated back to the importers in the U.S, not the exporters in China and other countries. In fact, our customers demanded rebates on their goods that were rebated.

Trump says the tariffs are charged to China and paid to us

Right, we were told for months that Americans weren't paying the tariffs. Why would the consumer get a refund for something they weren't paying?

Tariffs have been a huge success - I hope Trump keeps it up - Americans are too stupid to understand long games - that what Trump is playing here. So sad how many maga folks have bought into the Muslim paid propaganda to say this term is not going well.

Are you slow? We are paying the tariffs. Amazon just got $660m is tariff refunds alone.
Did you get a refund?
Did you get a refund?

You honestly think corporations adjusted their price or absorbed the cost? Or do you think they passed the cost onto the consumer?
They could shift operations to cut costs but unlikely.
I’d go with the latter statement that the consumers paid that price.
You can’t be this gullible.

This isn’t necessarily a political subject but an economic policy and international relation issue.

Primarily by having a well educated population who is well versed in civil matters, particularly including economics.
We don’t so everyone pounded their fists about how consumers pay tariffs, corporations don’t.
To make that claim, one would have to igbore a whole host of factual information. Which TDS riddled figs, did. And now here we are.
Congrats to all the useful lemmings. Now POTUS just applies tarrifs through a different set of powers.
