The OP sounds like he wasn't "acting" like gas prices didn't matter to him, they actually dont. I know how important is is for some to seek lockstep in political matters, but to exacerbate cries of crisis where little exists is loss of focus. There ARE legitimate crisis worldwide, but gas prices ain't one of them.

Because you have a $20,000 toy that costs you an extra $15 a month to fill up.

It's like hearing someone complain about it costing an extra $400 to put Diesel into their $1,000,000 sportfisher that they pay $3000 a month for just to dock it.

I sympathize with people on strict budgets and poors who struggle when they complain about gas prices.

People with SxS's and yachts, not so much. The extra dividends you get from your XOM stock will offset your additional expenses.

Consumer sentiment

Consumer sentiment at lowest levels since survey began in the 1950s. We could argue the why but regardless the American consumer is not feeling flush at the moment.

If you can afford a Side by Side, I don't want to hear you complain about a $15 difference in the cost to fill it up.

It's been paid off for 7 years and I've taken excellent care of it and kept it in pristine condition, because I was responsible.

It literally costs me $15 a month to maintain. I make about 70K. I pay a $400/mo car payment and a $1500/mo mortgage, and my insurances. I might not be the right person to criticize.

I can't afford these base model S×S's of today that start off around $40K. That's why I maintain the one I bought brand new for $18K. Scenarios differ. That's some context for my particular situation.

Gas prices don't bother me. Besides, I drive 14000/year and do not pay for my gas. I haven't paid in over 20 years.

You may not’ve paid for gas in over 20 years, but most people have to pay for it. And the biggest impact is on the lower and middle class.

The increased cost to fuel personal vehicles, boats, etc doesn’t add in the increased price of everything else due to increased gas prices. People will continue to hurt.

One is not like the other and you know it.

Gas price hikes are an immediate jump across all goods.

Tariffs are selective and mostly on wants vs needs. Tariffs have a better shot of being absorbed by the importer to stay competitive than gas price hikes do

None of that is accurate and some of it is plain false. I'm not going to take the time to explain why, because it's already been explained 1000 times and you still refuse to understand it.

So I ask again, why do y'all understand how this works when it comes to gas, but act like you have no idea how this works when it comes to tariffs?

It's the Jedi Mind Trick. It has to be. Trump waves his hand and says, "I can take water out of one end of the pool," and y'all stare straight ahead, eyes glassy, and repeat, "You can take water out of one end of the pool."

I do not pay for my gas. "My" being the point. I still pay for the wife's gas. I still do not pay attention to prices. I do work in the petro business though.

This. It's a visible change in price but yet a very made up crisis.

Because people like to bitch. Every single person I know is doing very well these days compared to the 4 years we all had to endure during the Kalama Biden term

Whooptidoo.. you have to pay $20 extra a month for gas but people have no problem paying for their Netflix, hulu, Amazon prime, iPhone, internet, phone bill, etc etc etc - when those prices go up every month, nobody bitches about that

Why do you think that your actions will change my life? That response severely misses the point.

I want you to stop being a douche because the world is a better place when people think beyond themselves. Because God wants us to prioritize the well being of others to an equal extent to our own. Because being indifferent to the suffering of those around us is never the life we are called to live.
