Covid in H-Town; More Lies From The Media

Healthcare CEOs of the Texas Medical Center said during a Thursday press conference that a letter that was sent out to the community Wednesday regarding the hospital system's "increasingly stretched" ICU capacity level was "misinterpreted," and stressed the pandemic is not eclipsing hospital capabilities to care for COVID-19-positive and other patients.
Following reports that TMC had reached 97 percent capacity, Dr. Marc Boom, Houston Methodist President and CEO, said ICU capacity percentages in the 80s or 90s is "completely normal." "We have the ability to go far higher than that in terms of the ICU beds we can utilize for COVID-19 patients," Boom said. "...We have PPE (personal protection equipment) we have the capability, (and) we have learned enormous amounts about caring for people with COVID-19."
Yet you have Chron and KHOU trotting some doctor out non stop saying the apocalypse is coming to Houston.
The spike is expected and good, people need to get this and continue the spread of herd immunity. If not, this is the norm for years.

I think it's probably good form to be skeptical of the media narratives and the statement of a healthcare CEO.
The truth on the ground is probably somewhere in the middle.

TMC has the current occupancy listed out on their website along with the two tier ups of like 300 and 500. 30% of current is Covid

You know what? I think I'll just go with the CEO of the TMC if that is ok with you.

I saw my first honest headline from khou.com today...
Every other day has been "TMCs ICU's have reached capacity!"

100% of regular ICU beds occupied in the TMC, but hospitals have space for surge.

I'll go with the CEO of one of the largest hospitals in the country over a 28 year old county judge and whatever new graduates they have in the local news fear mongering to push their political agendas.

The problem is there is nothing showing a decrease in the rise. I know someone mentioned earlier about some doctor raising red flags. I assume they are talking about Peter Hotez. He is the dean of the school of tropical medicine and a virologist among other things. He isn’t some fringe guy that’s been found. He is highly respected in this area. When he’s concerned, I think it’s important to listen.

Headed to Galveston next month, I hope they don’t close back down again.

My business is hospital census and capacity....Most ALL decent hospitals run packed ICU's in regular times and I work to help them create virtual space....saying high occupancy is scary is saying we should be scared each and every day. These are uninformed people spreading panic.

Any fricktard in the media spreading panic deserves to be charged for treason. At the very minimum they should be given a life sentence in prison. It's absolutely ridiculous how the media is causing panic on purpose, and people must be head accountable for their delusion.

Covid 19 cases are rising very fast in Texas and in Harris County. So are hospitalizations for Covid 19. Even Rightist Gov. Abbott is backtracking on his allout opening up trajectory.
This is not a hoax. We could open up our economy almost in full relatively safely IF people would wear masks and not congregate for extended periods of time.

Sitting in the middle of the road is the way road kill happens. Sitting on a fence will give you splinters in your butt.

This guy also seems to be angling to be the next Dr. Fauci. He hasn’t seen a tv camera he didn’t like since this began in March, and has been preaching the same doom and gloom in Houston hospitals for months.

This is not hyperbole, by the way. The doctor literally used the word "apocalyptic."
