People are saying that Pennsylvania is becoming the next Ohio. If that is the case I wonder if we can get John Fetterman to become Team MAGA now.

Has he even broken ranks with Democrats on a vote yet? Until he starts doing that, he’s juat cheap talk.

There's no law that prohibits one from switching political parties, so yes he could.

Fetterman is a true blue democrat. He just knows is state is going red, so he has to play the middle.

He’ll be the next Manchin, not a republican.

He’ll sound reasonable, but vote the way Schumer wants 97% of the time.

I agree. But if he switches today and votes 100% MAGA how would you feel?

A friend of mine who I have worked with off and on for many years was elected mayor of a city in west Pennsylvania about three years ago. It's the fourth or fifth largest city in Pennsylvania and is an industrial area on Lake Erie.

He is Catholic and is about as politically conservative as anyone but he ran as a Democrat.

I asked him why he ran as a Democrat and his reply was, "Republicans can't get elected in my area regardless of the person's policies or beliefs. If I had run as a Republican I would not have been elected."

Sad but true...

He wouldn’t even be the first PA senator to do so.

NO. We need to get Democrats out of the Republican party, not bring more in.

Go ahead and assume that every politician's primary concern is reelection. If he polls better as a Rep he'll jump, if not, he won't. It's not principle, it's Realpolitik.

Why not just say it’s Erie, PA - that’s the only decent sized city on Lake Erie in PA. PA literally has like 100 miles of Lake Erie shoreline.

Louisiana was exactly the same way in the early 90s I k ow a then state rep, ran as an R got beat and the next cycle ran as a D and won. He changed nothing but his party.

That might be the dumbest thing posted on this site in a while. We won this election because Democrats or people who often vote Democrat voted for Trump. So yes bringing more Democrats to the Republican side is exactly what we need to do. To say otherwise is indefensible idiocy.

I’m fine if he would vote MAGA 50% of the time. That is 50% of his vote the Dems would lose. People who want purity and devotion all the time don’t live in reality. We should gladly take any step in the right direction, no pun intended.

It’s why we get all these defections in the south to the Republican Party. It’s reality I guess. These politicians will morph into whatever they have to.
