I am not a Trump supporter but that is absolutely ridiculous. Comey thought that something has to be an eternal truth for it to be reported? Comey couldn't say, "at this time President Trump is not under investigation" then if something changes come back and say "President Trump is now under investigation for xxx"?

I mostly agree with you.

This whole thing comes across as nothing more than Trump wanting Comey to state publicly what he was privately told in order to clear things up in regards to Trump personally.

It's not unreasonable

It is understandable for sure, what I don't get is all the lies that Trump and his team said after Comey was fired about the reasoning of the dismissal.

Imagine if Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton had a secret meeting on the tarmac of an airport while Hillary was under investigation.

Just frick off.

Comey’s riveting opening statement details multiple interactions with the president

The President met with the FBI, country ambassadors, and party leaders?

WHAT THE frick!

The president should only stay in his office or give pandering retard speeches to a camera.

frick TRUMP!

I can't believe he's acting like a competent business man and meeting with his subordinates and getting work done.

I mean how stupid does the above sound. Obama was so terrible in office people forgot what a President does?

Remember George H W Bush. Director of the CIA? Chief Liaison to China?

How the frick did we ever elect such a psychotic piece of shite! He talked to both China and the CIA!

The melting and straw grasping is getting so out of hand now.

Then, I don't understand why you think it is such a big deal that Trump asked Comey to do just that. Now, I'm sure when he asked Comey to publicly say that he wasn't under investigation he didn't say to include the "at the time" part but who would? In my view, Comey thinking that Trumps investigation status had to be an eternal constant before he could publicly say that Trump wasn't under investigation says more about him than it does Trump.

That isn't what I find a big deal. It was Trump on several occasions trying to influence him by asking him to drop the Flynn investigation or the Russian probe. That coupled with lying about the reasons Comey was dismissed.

This would be disturbing if anyone thought you actually believed any of it.

That's interesting, because that is nowhere near the stratosphere of the points you attempted to make in your OP.

In conclusion
I surmise you don't really have a conclusion based on the fact that you continue a diatribe of primarily opinion and conjecture while avoiding blatant falsehoods in the various anti-Trump narratives, or the hypocrisies and inconsistencies that history confirms, or the Constitutionally validated basis of our Government, or just plain old common sense.

Says to me you are one of two things: a phony or a scissorbill (or both).

So it breeds suspicion but Comey's saying nothing illegal happened nor did he at any time feel pressured to do anything illegal doesn't clear the air.

Comey acknowledged that he did not take such notes about his meetings with former President Barack Obama, though he said he only met alone with him twice, compared with “nine one-on-one conversations” with Trump in four months.

Yep, and that says a lot re Comey. This would be the President Obama that openly embraced and stated his intent to "punish his enemies and reward his friends"....and DID just that. Employing the NSA (Rosen)...IRS (Tea Party individuals), NSA (spied on Rand Paul and Lindsey Graham at the least, surely MANY more) and claimed Executive Privilege in order to shut down the Fast n Furious Congressional wherein the AG Holder was found in Contempt of Congress for his coverup of communication with Obama.

It is an f'n dog and pony show up there, with lies and liars on the Stage...PRETENDING to be honest on the outside, yet corrupt to the core inside. Comey being one of the best. Jesus Christ perfectly described this kind of Individual...so did M. Scott Peck in his Book "People of the Lie".

Now we know why the common-sense folk went rogue and elected a man like Donald J. Trump. Because they realized that we are one step away from going total Banana Republic with people like the Fascist Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton totally determining the future and "fundamental transformation" of our Nation.

Makes me wanna puke. But since I suspected it was coming for a lifetime (Religious bias admitted), and as such, factor in a good ending, I'm good. Otherwise I'd be a hopeless cynic.

The OP criticized Obama, frequently, when he was President. I don't agree with him in the points he's making in this thread but he's not a progressive or someone who hates conservatives.

Didn't Hoover pretty much have a weekly appointment with every president he served under?

I think I remember reading that.

I don't think Hoover is someone to be modeled after. It isn't that the President met with the FBI Director it's that Trump made poor judgement by meeting with Comey alone given the circumstances. Trump would have benefitted from witnesses in the room.

You tellin me that Trump wouldn't have been better off if there were multiple people in meetings with Comey that could testify that Comey is lying? (If he is) Come on,
