If CNN is saying Trump and the U.S. are gaining the upper hand in the Strait of Hormuz, my God, you have to wonder what the reality actually looks like. More than 80% of recent vessel transits are reportedly using the Omani route under U.S. protection, and effective oil flows may already be back near 15M barrels/day vs. 20M prewar. Iran may be unintentionally teaching the world how to move its oil without Iran’s permission—and a couple more bypass pipelines could make that lesson permanent.

Even though he works for CNN, David Goldman is known for calling things as he sees them. Here's a sample of his recent articles:

Thank you for sharing, OP.

Update: Here's a video of Goldman talking about how many barrels are likely making it through Hormuz by ship and by pipelines:

Just accepting these numbers as true, is it still not costing the American taxpayer a boatload (hehe) of money to have Navy vessels stationed in and around the Strait escorting the tankers?

That was not the pre-war status quo, was it?

It is, but the bigger story (as Goldman states in the video I've linked above) is that the Trump administration potentially has a lot more leverage in negotiations with Iran than most analysts have previously thought.

Drop Site has been posting the Kpler numbers. The admin.seems to be saying they secretly get ships through. If that is the case, why not keep quiet?

It is, but the honest reality is that if they weren't patrolling there, they would be patrolling or training somewhere else. The "only" added cost to taxpayers of having them there is munitions above and beyond what they would be using in training exercises.

Tomahawks aren't free.

The NYT is basically an Iranian propaganda paper now.

WSJ doing the same shite with some weird stuff. For CNN to report on it must be pretty significant

So now CNN is good and truthful? Not fake news anymore? My head cannot stop spinning from the daily whiplash.

"Secretly getting ships through"

Catalina island is 30 mile off the Orange County cost. You can clearly see every tanker to/from Long Beach that goes between us and the island. There is no "sneaking" a cargo ship through that Strait.

It's easy. CNN is always left. When Trump does something good, they downplay it. So, when they say he is doing good, you know it's real, because they would never lie in his favor.

That's consistency, not whiplash.
