nfa repealed

I just don’t see this happening legislatively unless they ditch the filibuster. There’s no way to get 60 senators or board when half the republicans are spineless democrats like Bill Cassidy.

She looks like an AI generated avatar for a career federal officer that has never done anything of substance

Every single gun law is an unconstitutional infringement on our rights.

Is every single libel or defamation, or public disturbance law based on speech or action also an unconstitutional infringement?

Because “Congress shall make no law” is exactly as linguistically restrictive as “shall not be infringed”

Every ATF employee should be fired. Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a bureau.

I understand the absolutist position. I’m asking why that principle wouldn’t also apply to the first amendment that contains similarly restrictive language.

I would say no. You must consider tbr history and tradition at the time the amendment and the whole constitution was ratified. Free speech meant the ability to express opinions and beliefs, not the ability to knowingly make false statements or knowingly writing false statements about an historical event.

You have to use history and tradition as Justice Thomas wrote. You also must interpret (even plain and simple phrases unfortunately). What is an “arm”? What does it mean to “keep”? What does it mean to “bear” in the context of the 1780s? What did the framers write in what we call the Federalist Papers?

Keeping in line with history and tradition and the plain text, I should be able to own a cannon, a Gatling gun, a tank, an M16, a gunship, a fighter jet, mustard gas, and an atom bomb.

We also have judges and juries to be used for arbitration and determination of truth. If it can be proven to a jury of their peers that they knowingly printed falsehoods (stated as facts, not at mere opinions) then that is not “free speech”.

All that, and you did nothing to refute what was posted.

You really don't.

That isn't what you're asking at all.

If anyone was arguing that murder with a firearm is protected by the Second Amendment, you might have a point.

You cannot lie in a civil deposition without potentially facing legal consequences because Congress (or state legislatures) have passed laws to that effect. Congress has abridged my freedom of speech. I cannot, in fact, say whatever I want.

It is.

You can't rob a liquor store with a firearm, either, because that has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.

You can, in fact, say whatever you want. If you lie to your dog in your living room, what are the legal consequences? If you lie to the birds in your back yard, is a police officer going to kick your door in?
