As Gaetz said, "Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms should be the name of a convenience store".

Why does this exist?

An organization needs legal advice. When paying outside counsel costs more than hiring internal, the organization has its first Chief Counsel or General Counsel.

In a business, this person handles all legal affairs from HR matters to contracts with other businesses and tortious interference allegations. At ATF it’s probably similar, except for that last category and a bunch of additional government stuff I’m not familiar with.

Wrong.
there's a federal law against lying to an FBI agent. Depending on the jurisdiction, giving a false name/DOB to a police officer is illegal.

No, there isn't.

Go ahead and post what you're referring to, and I'll explain why you're wrong.

K. That isn't what you originally said.

Somewhat true…it’s called 18 USC 1001, False Statement…providing a MATERIAL FALSE STATEMENT within federal purview…this could be on a document, to a federal official (not just LEO) and/or testimony.

This is why we need Federal govt reduced.

Indeed. Meaning, "you will be jailed for lying to cops" is complete bullshite. It's a false equivalence, and it's typical from anti-gun idiots who don't know what they're talking about.
