Isn’t Kamala from California?
Posted on 8/2/24 at 8:38 am to Crimson Wraith
They should have done that a long time ago

Finally, they are pulling the trigger. They have been suggesting this for two decades.
They see the writing on the wall. The Texas Golden Triangle is going to be the economic engine of the U.S. if not the world in the next decade or so.

I'm honestly surprised they hadn't done it sooner. I don't see why a company would want to keep their HQ in a state that' so antagonistic to them.

Wow, I thought all major oil companies were located in Houston.

Yup. Saw this coming from a mile away. I interviewed with them out there a few years ago and pretty much asked them point blank if this was going to happen.
I didn't want to uproot to that location, only to have to pick back up and move to Houston a short time later... and Houston would be one of the last places in the U.S. I would want to live. No offense to anyone from Houston here, it's just not one of my preferred locales. But I have friends who live in The Woodlands and they love it.

Didn't know Chevron was headquartered there. Odd

Most of their operations staff has been operating out of Houston for a while. Pretty much since they merged with Texaco in 2001.

WOW!! My Dad would have loved this! He grew up in Tx and spent his entire career with Chevron. Houston, NOLA, and overseas. Eventually, ending up in Cal and retiring as a VP. He passed 3 yrs ago and some of his last words to me were "take me back to Texas!"

We’re moving to hydrogen for our energy future or the very least for it to be a piece of the energy puzzle.
I have no idea if that’s going to be good or bad in the long term (it will be beneficial for air quality around here but $$ are another matter) but that’s where the state is heading and a lot of it will be centered close to where I’m at. Here’s a link:

Solid move for them, but its only around 2k jobs. Believe they have like 5k here in Houston currently.
Nonetheless, love the

Kamala wants to bring California’s failed experiment to the entire country

The dumbass Californians hate the refinery in Richmond just down the road from the corporate headquarters. I hope they mothball that motherfricker and put it on barges and send it to China. frick the Californians. I hope they pay $20/gallon for gas and $2000 electricity bills. No offense.

I would be a bad thing if it happened, but trust me it won’t happen. The only economical method to produce H2 is the steam methane reforming process with involves burning CH4 to make steam and taking another CH4 stream and mixing it with the steam in a catalyst bed to H2, CO, and CO2. Burning that H2 in a turbine would result in far more total energy consumed and far more carbine emissions that just burning methane.
I was at a trade show recently looking at turbines and engines where the manufacturers were so happy to display that they can run on pure H2 gas. I cornered one of the reps and said hey can you give me one example of a real customer in real life burning H2 to make electricity, and they guy was like hell no, it’s a joke, but by making the turbine H2 capable, we get ESG brownie points.
“Green” Hydrogen made using electrolysis with water as the main ingredient using power from only renewable sources is so outrageously costly that it will never be subsidized enough to catch on. Plus it still takes diesel engines and slaves all around the world to capture the minerals to make the solar panels and it takes crude oil to make all the cross-linked polyethylene that electric power cable insulation is made from, and it still takes diesel-driven trucks to cart around the hydrogen trailers. “Green hydrogen” will at best be an extremely expensive and extremely low volume fuel for idiots who like to smell their own farts.
