A juror in the Derek Chauvin murder trial is defending his attendance at the March on Washington anniversary last August in light of online speculation about his motives on the jury.

In recent days, a photo of Brandon Mitchell that was originally posted on social media around the Aug. 28 event commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech began circulating online and on multiple news sites. Many online questioned his motive and its potential to fuel a possible appeal in Chauvin's case.

quote:

Mitchell said that he answered "no" to two questions in the juror questionnaire sent out before jury selection that asked about participation in demonstrations.

quote:

The first question asked, "Did you, or someone close to you, participate in any of the demonstrations or marches against police brutality that took place in Minneapolis after George Floyd's death?"

The second one asked, "Other than what you have already described above, have you, or anyone close to you, participated in protests about police use of force or police brutality?"

totally fine...nothing to see here.

Anyone else think it seems rather convenient that that guy was even in the jury pool considering the hundreds of thousands that were likely eligible?

Chauvin should’ve been convicted of manslaughter, served 1-2 years in a minimum security prison...but that would mean there was still equal justice in this country.

If I was on that jury I’d have to do some serious soul searching and spend quite a long time studying the laws of that state before I could render a verdict …

But let’s all be completely honest here: that was a fricking kangaroo court and he was made an example of by a tainted/biased jury who had their minds made up long before the trial ever started.

Regardless of your opinions of his guilt/innocence, everyone should be disgusted and scared of this mob-rule outcome.

Put it in a rural MN county and he is likely acquitted of all charges.

MLK march is in DC not minneapolis. unless theres more evidence to see theres nothing wrong here.

what did he describe above? that seems to be an important part, if he had described the MLK march then there is no issue. If MLK march was about police brutality maybe this is a problem, but Im just not sure thats what MLK march is about.

The juror is literally in a picture with a guy wearing a BLM shirt with MLKs picture that says get your knee off our neck. That’s a direct reference to the Chauvin case. The caption mentions him as the next generation of activists. It couldn’t be more obvious that this would be a biased juror.

Jurors are supposed to be impartial. Mistrial should be declared and he should be arrested for perjury.
