re: Charlie had direct access to POTUS but only told Joe Kent his moral convictions about war?

I’m with you about people invoking his name to give credence to whatever they’re saying. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Charlie did talk publicly about his feelings on Iran and stated that he shared them with the president.

What those conversations sounded like we will obviously never know and neither will Joe Kent.

Joe Kent doesn’t even realize how shitty this makes him look.

Either he is lying and making up something that wasn’t said by a man who was tragically murdered and cannot defend himself against these lies

Charlie did in fact tell him this in confidence and Kent is betraying that by repeating something a dead man said to him in confidence

Unfortunately I think the most effective way to defuse the Kirk wars is for the general consuming public to stop caring about what CK may have thought about a given thing.

Kirk was a great communicator, seemingly a really good human being, and he managed to be wildly influential in an era where almost everyone who is wildly influential also sucks and becomes a huge grifter.

But ultimately he held pretty vanilla conservative views, he just presented them in a package boldly and with a temperament that fit the role he built - talking to young people about how conservatism fit what they wanted in life.

Yea... Kent didn't know Charlie very well but whenever they were alone together, Charlie told Kent all of his very darkest secrets lol
