Change my mind: The average American would be better off if Ukraine lost in the next month

Whether that be surrendering, or negotiating a peace deal without the West's involvement, and possibly a coup to overthrow Zelensky, since he has probably gone to far to ever go back.

Benefits I see.

1) We would no longer be pumping billions of dollars and technology into this conflict

2) The elites and political class would no longer have their laundering playground to enrich themselves and do whatever the hell else they are doing their (sex trafficking, bio labs, narcotics, etc)

3) Energy and food prices would improve, as they won't be disrupted by the activity in the region

4) Thousands or even millions of Ukrainian people would not continue to be needlessly killed all just to save face for Joe Biden and that midget troll wannabe Napolean in a green shirt

Cons:

1) Putin is a bully and we are a bunch of COD larpers and need to see him pay!!! REEEeeee!

It's time for it to end.

The biggest danger has always been a crushing defeat for Russia in a fight they see as existential. They might just bring the whole world down if they are going anyway.

Next biggest danger would have been a too easy Russian victory.

We are now on a creeping path of escalation and it's only a matter of time before they say NATO weaponry in Ukrainian hands will not be enough. It needs to be NATO weaponry in the hands of NATO soldiers.

That no one in power is even pretending to try and end this is shocking.

My hope has always been that we have some very secret talks underway designed to find a face saving way out for all parties.

Any Ukrainian that delivers Zelensky to Putin will have a much greater chance at a longer healthier life.

At least the taxpayers would no longer be pumping money into the war. That is worth something.

I hope Russia knows if a fair agreement to stop the war isn’t reached soon the likelihood of Finland, Sweden, Ukraine and any other country who wants NATO membership is going to happen…….exactly what Russia was concerned about before their invasion of Ukraine.

No we wouldn’t. Putin is trying to challenge the US and the West. He wants the Russian Empire to become a wrecking force in the world. A Russia victory in Ukraine only makes things worse in Eastern Europe. Poland, Romania, Moldova, the Baltics, Sweden and Finland, they’ll all start to get real antsy. Some of those countries won’t wait around for Russia to invade their countries either. They’ll try and stop Russia before they cross a border. This increases the odds of an actual war being started in Eastern Europe, where we’d have no choice but to get more involved than we are right now.

I don’t understand how some of you seriously think it’s not a big deal if Russia takes half of Ukraine or all of it. History has taught us time and time again, that Europe doesn’t take kindly to an empire playing the land grab game. Things always get very ugly when this shite starts happening over there. Putin thinks it’s the 1930s and that Nazis are threatening to invade Russia again. If that’s his mindset and the narrative he’s trying to push, then we’re in for a very long next 10 years having to deal with Russia. There are major consequences that will come from this. You have to set aside your political opinions to see this for what it is.

Funny thing about this quote. When has anyone actually stopped Putin? Obama never lifted a finger.

I mean, is it realistically wrong for Putin to have agendas for his Nation, and people say he's wrong, all while declaring everything we do outside the US as virtous simply because it benefite Americans?

So fricking funny to watch the same Democrats that had Soldier Death Counts on CNN over the Iraq War rattle the World War 3 drum like it won't cost a damn dime.

My opinion isn’t worth anything, but as long as Russia doesn’t invade any country that wasn’t originally part of the USSR, I have no complaints. If they win Ukraine and use that momentum to invade say Poland, then I say engage, if not, stay out of it, let mother Russia get strong again, we’ll need their help to defeat the Chinese.

I truly do think at this point that it would escalate things. His big problem was Ukraine looking to join NATO. He said he can’t have nato at their border. Well taking over Ukraine puts 2 actual NATO members at their door.

I would say it would kick the can down the road. Short term good for the average person before their sons and daughters get sent off to die in Poland.

There is no good scenario in this for the average American.

Wait till you find out how much we’re going to be paying to help rebuild … for the people of Ukraine who have suffered enough.

I personally think it should be on Putin - you broke it, you fix it. But I’m not sure politicians follow the same policy.

This is why I really hope Putin wins... Then it is his problem... NOT ours...

And this is where the OT political pundits get this completely wrong and fail to understand geopolitics in Eastern Europe (Prussia) ...

Russia could have overtaken Ukraine at any point in the last 12 months ... but they haven't. They've performed surgical strikes against limited locations and recaptured portions West of Crimea who are more loyal to Russia anyway.

Y'all been watching Jack Ryan Season 3 which is a fictional account of the former USSR ...
