Acourt ruling found veteran TV news correspondent Catherine Herridge in civil contempt for refusing to identify sources related to a 2017 investigation she reported for Fox News.

Herridge, who until recently worked for CBS News, declined to divulge information about how she learned of an FBI probe into an academic when she was deposed on the matter in September.

U.S. District Court Judge Christopher R. Cooper imposed a fine of $800 a day until Herridge complies. She will have time to appeal the decision before the fine goes into effect.

Cooper had ordered Herridge in August to reveal her sourcing for a 2017 story on Dr. Yanping Chen, a Chinese American scientist who founded the University of Management and Technology. The Virginia-based school attracted military service members who received tuition assistance from the Department of Defense.

Chen became the subject of an FBI investigation in 2010 concerning statements she made on immigration forms about her work related to a Chinese astronaut program. Her home was searched and materials were seized, but no charges were filed against her.

Years after the investigation, Herridge reported a number of stories for Fox News about the case, which looked into whether Chen concealed her former membership in the Chinese military on her immigration forms. The investigation also examined whether Chen used her school to funnel information about the U.S. military to the Chinese government.

She’s not threatened with jail, she needs to spend $800 per day to protect her sources

Why doesn't she use the Democrat playbook of "Whistleblowers are protected act"

Orange Man Bad- he should go to jail and pay millions in fines for all eternity...

If she's obstinate enough and refuses to pay, she can be found in contempt and a judge overseeing the trial, if this is in federal court, could order her to jail.....if it got ugly.

What's odd about this, is that federal shield laws protect reporters especially in civil matters to a higher degree than in criminal matters and this is a civil case....it's one thing that Republicans and Democrats have been somewhat in agreement and united on . Schumer and Graham helped pass a tightening of press shield laws back in 2013.

However, the shield is less stringent if the case involves national security which this case could possibly morph into but has not......yet.

She's getting fricked with. My guess is that this whole thing involves some DOD and NSA bullshite that was somewhat embarrassing and Chen,et al want to find out who spilled the beans and Herridge has told them and the court to frick off

How is this not a 5th amendment violation? In what other instances does the government have a right to compel me to release info that will be used against me?

Is it a conspiracy to imagine at this stage the FBI wanted her files on the Biden's. As they arrested and jailed an FBI informant?

Is it crazy to wonder if the DOJ/FBI is trying to destroy and covet all evidence so they can help promote that all bad deeds the establishment democrat, establishment republicans, Obama, Biden's....Is russian disinformation?

Is it a stretch to say that Biden is Xi's bitch? Is it a stretch to say that the CCP is running the White House via blackmail and bribes?

Not so much to be used against Herridge but to smoke out her source(s) at the FBI. I suspect that Chen's activities are embarrassing to certain high ranking military members .

CBS seizes confidential files of fired reporter pursuing Hunter Biden laptop story in ‘unprecedented’ move: sources….

The acclaimed CBS reporter who was investigating the Hunter Biden laptop scandal before she was fired last week had her personal files seized by the network in an “unprecedented” move, sources told The Post on Thursday.

Catherine Herridge — who is the middle of a First Amendment case being closely watched by journalists nationwide — was among 20 CBS News staffers let go as part of a larger purge of hundreds of employees at parent company Paramount Global…

Lose the tinfoil hat....for your own good. This is more along the lines of DOD vs DOJ . FBI apparently did not have a problem with the leak. But my guess is that DOD did because of the "tuition assistance" to Chen's "school"

This civil case is proxy for something else and DOJ is only marginally involved. DOD and NSA have much more exposure.

From Microsoft "Co Pilot"

Judge Christopher R. “Casey” Cooper serves as a United States District Judge for the District of Columbia. He was nominated to the bench by former President Barack Obama on August 1, 2013.

Judge Cooper resides in Washington

Case is in DC circuit. Surprise...surprise.

If I'm Herridge, I put this all the way up to SCOTUS.

I've never seen a lawsuit succeed on just what the sources are. Either the article was truthful or not.

A fricking form that the individual, now better yet, more than likely an app that they fill-out telling the U.S. government, hey I’m not a Chinese spy.

Tell me again what the combined budgets of the NSA, FBI, & CIA is?

Patriot Act is illegal & worthless, unless of course you’re a tax paying U.S. citizen.

I was confused when CBS hired her knowing that she is an actual old school journalist. Now I’m convinced they hired her to watch her & then stop her.

Tinfoil hat? Weird post. None of us, including you, have a clue as to who leaked the material, or why.
