Who “deserves” anything?
DeSantis is a pretty good governor… he’s got a proven track record in that regard.

Rubio will be the candidate before he does

JD has no track record, to use your words/standard

My bad- I’m a doofus… I misread your post and my brain substituted DeSantis where you actually typed JD.
As to JD… I’m not sold on him. Maybe he’s great, but he seems like a creation to me. I prefer Rubio or DeSantis.
It’s not that I have anything concrete against JD- I don’t. He just seems a bit astroturfed.

Ron is the man. He's a fighter, great communicator, and is willing to use his executive authority, unlike most Republicans. He is strong willed on immigration and appears to recognize that there is no negotiating or giving ground to leftists. Hoping he's the frontrunner. The narrative about him not doing great with working a room full of donors should be worn as a badge of honor. Republican donors are a corruptive force.

My preference: 1) DeSantis 2) Rubio 3) Vance.
Actual electability: 1) Rubio 2) DeSantis 3) Vance.

I love Ron, but...
- On one of the issues that splits this board and the right, well, he might be one of the few people even right of Trump.
- May be a neocon in sheep's clothing. But, Trump already punked us as anti-war and I really doubt JD will stay out of conflicts when it comes down to it.
The big concern with Ron winning is I don't know if he has the charisma or draw to pull states in the rust belt. But, I would think he is a layup in GA, NV, AZ, and FLA.

He’s the VP. And he’s popular. That’s it. That’s all you need to know. There is absolutely zero chance whatsoever of anyone else getting the nomination.

But Trump is never judged with such scrutiny. It’s weird.
So now you guys are pretending TDS doesn't exist?
You're even one of the guys who scrutinizes Trump like that. Talk about gaslighting.

That said, getting results in a single state that’s red when you’re a red governor is a whole different ballgame than wrangling 50 states.
O.k., but that said, he's gotten better results than anybody else in any red state in the last 75 years, at least.
That whole, "Yeah, but that's different than actually being POTUS" is never more true than when applied to Trump. Watch how that works:
"Being the owner of companies where you can just order people around and don't have to work with anybody and being the star of a reality t.v. show is a lot different than being POTUS."
DeSantis' prior experience is closer to what he would need to be an effective POTUS than Trump's was in 2016 by orders of magnitude.

y’all forget that a lot of democrats don’t simply think their way is better- they WANT to watch it all burn.
This is actually very true. And it cannot be stated enough.

"Even right of Trump?"
Trump is basically a Carter-era Democrat. He's the least conservative POTUS in my lifetime, and it's not close.

Again. DeSantis is awesome. My point wasn’t in doubting him but in recognizing that the AOCs, Schumers, Jeffries, etc… are going to do whatever they can to stymie him.

I'm just talking about with respect to our greatest ally. Otherwise, I basically agree with you that Trump is a Carter or Clinton Dem.

Would love for Ron to run. I may even save my state to vote for him if he needed it.

But you Ronbots acted like the biggest bunch of whiny little bitch girls which led to him getting destroyed cause you couldnt admit he was better as #2 at that moment
He would be better at being #1 than the current occupant
There.....I said it.

Desantis has a decision to make. He can get in the back seat, and position himself for maybe Vance’s VP. Or he can do what he did last time, attack the popular incumbent, and he’s finished forever.
That’s it. There is no chance he gets the nom if JD wants it. The only thing he can do is damage himself for the future, which he’s proven to be quite good at in the past.
