You dumb frick. Read the article. Those tariffs started on Jan 1, 2025. So how could those tariffs increase solar panel production in the 2023 to 2024 time frame?

now you've tripled down

Those weren't the first tariffs issued by Biden to address solar manufacturing, moron.

quote:

Here is another link saying the same
Jan 1 2025 solar panel tariff increase

Biden orders up to 50% tariffs on some solar energy components from China
The duties will target critical solar energy inputs, including wafers, polysilicon and tungsten products, beginning Jan. 1.

Published Dec. 12, 2024

Do understand the timing here???

Do you understand what the term "increase" means? Here is where Biden increased (not issued) tariffs on China in May of last year. LINK

He then issued the tariffs you mentioned on those other countries because the moron Biden had reduced tariffs to those countries in 2022. Congress then voted to repeal that tariff reduction in 2023, but Biden is as stupid as you are so he vetoed their repeal. LINK

The fact that he then had to go back and REISSUE those tariffs is an admission of failure on his part, and here you are trying to pretend it was something else.

It’s always been the worst part of Trump.

It makes no sense economically and if he wants any power during his last two years, he can’t have a struggling economy. But he will get it with tariffs

Those?

Solar manufacturing capacity has increased dramatically. In Q3 2024, the US had 38 GW of module assembly capacity, up from 19 GW at the end of 2023. SEIA projects that the U.S. solar manufacturing workforce alone will reach 100,000 workers by 2033.
thanks for proving my point.

Simple example,

In 1990 I took a trip to Montreal. I brought a carton of cigarettes. The price per pack in Montreal was twice what it was in the US. Why, because cigarettes had a tariff placed on them by Canada. The same for US bourbon and beer.

On the opposite note, there was no tariff on Canadian beer and whiskey if you bought it in the US.

So the US distillers and cigarettes makers were getting screwed as their products were more expensive in Canada, but Canadian products were cheaper or of equal market rate in the US.

All that Canada has to do is come to the negotiation table and agree to something remotely fair.

On a side note, I sold half the carton across the border and made all my money back.

Oh no. I can do that all day if you want. Not as good as VN. It’s only about a 6-8x multiple.

Funny, only Trump appears to be the arbitrator of what is fair.

It was something else moron. You are the only one not getting it.

solar panel production growth

I can link articles all day. None of them them attribute the 4x increase in solar panel production from 2023 to 2024 to tariffs. Zero.

ANAHEIM, Calif. and WASHINGTON, D.C. — Solar module manufacturing capacity in the United States now exceeds 31 gigawatts (GW) — a nearly four-fold increase since the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) became law in 2022.

That's nice, but the reality is that tariffs existed on solar panels throughout this time period and absolutely did affect solar panel production. At no point during the period of time you're discussing was there a lack of tariffs on solar.

How much federal money did those companies get during this same time period?

The whole point is to destroy the global economy. No more trade, no more international law, no more multiculturalism. Once we untether ourselves from the world we can behave like we truly want to behave without the fear of reprisal, and it’s going to be glorious

Why didn't we see a huge increase in US production when Trump put a 30% tariff on imported solar in 2018? Explain.

30%, that is a lot.

Have any idea what Canada charges the US in tariffs before Trump was elected?

I keep seeing this but I went on a Canadian Ford dealership's website last week and they were selling 2025 F150s for less than you can buy them here in Louisiana.

I have a question for the OP.

If tariffs only hurt the country employing them……

Why do Canada and other countries have a shite ton of them on the US?

They are just hurting themselves, in your mind?

I don't think anybody's said that.

Because Canada is far left as hell, it doesn't mind wealth redistribution and it doesn't mind its citizens paying higher prices.
