Don't the Republicans hold a majority of the seats in the House? So can't they pass a spending bill?
What am I missing?

Yeah, they get paid back pay if they are furloughed during the government shutdown...

Dems want to fund medical care for illegals, and roll back the cuts that were just passed on Trumps tax reduction bill. They want a big win against Trump, and our tax money to pay to give an incentive for more illegal immigration… shut the M’fer down

The democrats are demanding $1 TRILLION for illegal healthcare and illegal benefits. Republicans are telling them to frick off and Trump has them by the balls.
Remove the $1 TRILLION demand or shut down the Government where Trump and team can fire thousands of non essential jobs
It's a lose/lose for Democrats (again)

LOL. The DC republicans are only slightly less useless than the Dems. And many are Dems disguised as republicans

No one gets fired in a government shutdown...

Because R does not necessarily mean republican. R can stand for many things- democrat, bought off, pussy, spineless, grifter, just to name a few

The majority doesn't matter. Dems can stonewall with filibuster because they are sick f's who want to destroy kids with trans surgeries.

So according to a congressman that was on xm patriot radio this morning.. said the R's wan't to pass a clean CR until Nov 21. No changes to anything. The D's want to continue covid stuff. He said they need 60 senators and Rs only have 53..
Some BS like that.
I don't know , it's all utterly frustrating

Yes. Budget reconciliation can pass with 51 votes in the senate, but not everything can be done that way. To pass bills that go outside of the budget they need 60 votes in the senate to end debate.
It really depends on what they want to do.
The party with a majority but not 60 senators typically negotiates to get a few to cross over to vote to end debate.
This cycle, the republicans refuse to negotiate. So we are headed to shut down.

the democrats want health care for illegals and all their crap back. the republicans are feckless idiots controlled by Turtle and the business round table.
they should all be called Continuing Resolutions, not any honorable title.

Shouldn't be a problem to float a few bills if you miss a pay cycle or put it on your credit card. Or work a side hustle, and then get free money when you return to work.
Government work is ridiculously lucrative thanks to the dems.

Of course this is not remotely true.
The issue is the premium subsidy for ACA policies. That is not for undocumented migrants. That is for the US of A’s working poor

A RIF notice has to be given at a minimum 30 days prior to the actual date of separation. Usually the employee is put on administrative leave for those 30+ day...but all leave (including admin leave) is cancelled during a furlough so take that for what you see it.
EDIT: this is just a notice of intent to RIF so i guess the date of the notification (on furlough/shutdown or not) starts the clock.

They need 60 senate votes and while they hold the majority they only have 53 senate seats.
