Elon would get it done in record time.

Maybe, but I'd argue that if this SpaceX around Pecan Island thing really is going to happen the way it's been promoted, some sort of bypass connecting I-10 to US 167 avoiding Lafayette might be more important. Construct a connecter between the either Exit 82 (East Crowley) and Exit 87 (Rayne), or between Exit 87 and Exit 92 (Duson).

Elon’s Boring Co. could get a tunnel done in rapid time.

No, because of the public bids laws in Louisiana, which will insure that it won't get done for decades if at all

Will people be able to watch the launches from their front porches on Pecan Island? If not, where could one reside down there and be able to watch the daily fireworks?

No but the I-49 extension is a lot more likely now

Yes that is part of the problem.

Major bottleneck is the homes on South Blvd. and along Myrtle St. have gotten themselves declared as 'historic ' landmarks and makes it more difficult to be removed for new lanes for the new(er) bridge.

Musk likes to dig tunnels.

If Musk gave us the money to build a new bridge, it would take a minimum of ten years to pick a location.

Excellent idea. Landry should run with it. Elon can make big stuff happen. Money talks, especially when backed by extraordinary vision.

Being somewhat a 'Nature Romantic', I lament the loss of the Natural Landscape which I have always lived in. Pecan Island is a neat place. But being a Realist, only some sort of monumental collapse can stop the advance of AI/High Tech-based civilization. Even God knew that creating 'separate', Sovereign Entities (Humanity) was going to cause Evil and great pain. But for the cause of Love, here we are.

The best we can hope for is that Jesus is real and fulfills His Promise. Vision of Truth. Heaven on Earth. Eternal Life.

Elon is a tunnel maker, not a bridge builder.

Elon builds it. Then offers to sell it to Louisiana. Louisiana puts out notice to bidders that it's purchasing a new bridge and all bidders who have a bridge for sale at that location are free to submit bid. Sorta like Department of Wildlife and fisheries puts out bid for shitty trucks and Ram wins bid
