What about Kip?
But LA is so ripe with the current mess in LA politics/budget for a candidate(not political but a businessman like Trump) to come in and say enough is enough, get a constitutional convention going to redo the LA constitution, and make the entrenched LA politicians both Rep and Dem do their jobs. Just like Jindal did when he first got elected, most politicians would not go against anything he did for fear of looking like obstructionists.

Scalise, Kennedy, or Abraham would all be great candidates.
Either way, I'd vote for a three-legged, one-eyed, dog with mange and no teeth before I'd vote for a Louisiana Democrat.

Louisiana needs a visionary leader at this point.
None of those people you listed meet that criteria and JBE certainly doesn't.
I don't know what happens to this state.

That would be great, but I would settle for someone that doesn't think business is government's piggy bank.

John Kennedy is going to run against him and win convincingly on balancing a budget and his former experience as treasurer that’s what we need.

I hope Mitch Landrieu runs and makes the run off. That way I can vote against his arse twice.

Jeff Landry would be a horrible candidate. He has a lot of negative baggage and dead weight to his name that will harm him.
This is just a dumb statement.....tell us of this "negative baggage"

I don't think JBE can easily win at all.

IMO - One of the big problems with Vitter was that his quirky weird personality made it harder to overlook his past transgressions than it already was. Without the past, he was easy enough to accept as a quirky weird but brilliant and competent guy. At the same time, a smooth talking likeable guy (eg, Scalise, Graves) could have likely overcome that baggage. (And obviously EWE is the most perfect example). But with Dave, it was like his demeanor only served to highlight it even more. Plus there was that constant feeling that he was running scared and waiting for the other shoe to drop.
That combined with the apparent shitload of political enemies he had made along the way, made it too easy for stupid people to either stay home or vote for the other guy. Yeah to be clear, despite the preceding honest criticisms, he would have been a great governor and mountains better then Bel.

Not sure about baggage, but the fact he was elected to that position with such flimsy legal experience was and is ludicrous. I can't believe more didn't come out on that during the election. Gotta hand it to him though, he got it done. But that doesn't suddenly make him qualified or competent.

I like Stephen. I've met him several times and gotten to work with him on some issues. Very smart and would be great for the state.
But no chance he can win. There is to much "businesses don't pay enough tax / game the system" sentiment in LA, and he is the person that is held up as causing/defending that system. Right or wrong.

The real question is, how does JBE think he can win.
His approval rating is over 50%.

Scalise would win running away.
Landry would lose in a close race. Higgins would lose by 15+.
I think Kennedy would win, but it would not be a runaway. If he runs now he's gonna get the "career politician" thing thrown at him. I honestly think Kennedy is exactly where he needs to be - in Congress, in the muck and fighting.
Abraham, etc all need more name recognition.

Edwards election was a fluke. I voted for him only because he was a one term proposition
You still don't get it. Nothing in politics is ever a given and in any election, you're going to be stuck with the politics and policies of the winner and feel the effects of whoever he associates with and does favors for an entire term of four years and that's a very dangerous choice to make for an executive position like mayor, governor or president.
Oh and it's entirely possible JBE could win reelection as he still has an approval rating north of 50% and that could be too much to overcome especially if republicans tear each other apart again.
If that happens, will you still feel all proud, sophisticated and moral voting for JBE in the first place despite calling yourself a conservative?
quote:
I don’t care who anybody has sex with. Just own it.
He didn't have to own anything. If no crime was committed and any tax dollars were abused, it's none of your fricking business.
quote:
We would have been stuck with Vitter’s scorched earth politics and hypocrisy for 8 years has he been elected.
Have you ever considered who Vitter's enemies are? They are some of the most corrupt people in this state holding Louisiana back from catching up with states like Georgia, Tennessee and Texas.
We need someone to go scorched earth like we needed Trump to scorched earth on the GOP and DC.
Oh and you have no room to talk about hypocrisy after voting for a tax and spend liberal despite calling yourself a conservative.
