It’s amazing that people and businesses still stay there with their taxes, and the coming inflation

We’re looking to get the heck out of here. Business taxes are just one small reason why. The state government is out of control. The cost of living is beyond absurd even here in Fresno. We’re now getting an influx of people from the Bay that can work remotely. It’s a beautiful state by my God is it ever mismanaged. We also are entering fire season and this place is still a tinderbox. Oh, the state also may not be “reopening” tomorrow. The joys of living in a fully controlled dem state. But yeah, the weather is great most of the time. Except this week when we’re hitting 100+ with Thursday or Friday being 111.

I take it you've never been to the city that serves as the state capitol of Texas.

Dude, I'm trying. ATX has already become unrealistic for me. It's just as expensive as Temecula at this point.

I take it you think Austin is the only city in Texas

you might want to look into how state GDPs are usually calculated and what goes into them.

CA based Tesla builds a $5B plant in Texas that will employ 5,000 workers and generates $10B per year revenue from vehicles built in this plant. (I made up the numbers so don’t bother checking).

From the few hints in the Bloomberg opinion piece that speak to this type of scenario, California would be credited for all of that CAPEX, employment and production (GDP).

I did COL.

CA is KO'd before the fight begins

The COL numbers above were from 2018.

Texas:

2018: 96.8
2021: 91.5

decrease of 6%
GDP increase of 12% since 2016

California:

2018: 113.4
2021: 151.7

Increase of around 35%
GDP increased 21% since 2016

This isn't even a fair fight, man

It's what happens when you have a huge population and invest in communities instead of leaving it every trailer park and oil rig for themselves

Then move to Cali. I will take Texas far over Cali.

Also how much of that stunning growth falls into tech ogliarchs, federally propped up industries like renewables, or is simply housing cost related?

You mean the communities where people making six figures are living in motorhomes because they can’t afford a shitty little house? That’s the investing in communities you speak of?

I don't know if those numbers are accurate or not. If they are it's because Apple, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc are located there

But as someone who just spent the past 27 years in California, I can tell you first hand that it is now a shithole

Yep. I could make any numbers say what I want them to say as easily as any other economist/ financier here. This tangentially reminds me of the Bernie “Scandinavian McDonald’s workers get $22/ hr” meme that doesn’t take cost of living, taxation, etc into account.

There’s a difference between post-modernist subjective truth and actual truth.

Meanwhile, Calif. income earners are moving to AZ and Texas due to taxes and government stupidity.
