During the final episode of The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert purposely used copyrighted music during a segment, a move that could potentially cost his former bosses at CBS a lot of dough if the music was unauthorized, and the usage were to end in a lawsuit.
from the rolling stone
CBS probably doesn't care whatever it might cost would be less than the money they were losing on his show.

That minimally talented bum should get down on his knees and thank CBS for propping up his sorry arse for years, even though in return all he did was 1) regurgitate what his corporate media overlords told him to say and do, which anybody could've done, and 2) lose them millions of dollars in the process.

The most punchable face on television.

Uh...is there any more detail than this? What music?
By the way, I don't think it would be CBS getting sued. It would be the production company that produced the show.

I originally started replying to this post to criticize why anyone would even care about this happening, and more so posting about it.
But then, who am I to tell other people what they should and should not care about?
I apologize for originally thinking that. I’m trying to be less judgmental. Sometimes I fail.

Colbert used to be actually likeable and pretty funny when he was on Comedy Central. He went straight down the toilet bowl when he went to CBS.

This is accurate. You can still look up his videos from "The Colbert Report" back in the CC days, and see that he used to pretty viciously and hilariously go after both "sides" equally, in the earlier days at least, when he was just building his name and not trying to land a bigger gig. Towards the end, he was definitely only mildly going after Dims with kids gloves.
But as soon as he landed at XiBS, it was 100% Progressive-Marxist mode and 100% anti-anything-conservative. He wouldn't even entertain the thought of saying anything positive about anyone to the Right of Mao.
And Colbert really isn't a stupid guy. He knows exactly what he's doing. That dude, right now, is assuredly struggling deeply in what's left of his soul, with the fact that he completely sold out for money. Everything he built, all his potential, all his aspirations, all gone because he let Progressive Mega-money control him.
I truly hope it hurts him, deeply.

Acting like a true libtard cry baby, everything is someone else's fault.
