The "good guy with the gun would have stopped it" doesn't really play for schools the same way it does in most other public spaces. The teachers are not going to be carrying in classrooms full of small children. That is why there are LEO's at schools.
Nothing wrong with a responsible adult being armed to protect children. You read the story right? Guy walked in and shot the place up. I would think that's an excellent reason to have a gun in the classroom. You automatically clutch pearls when guns and children are used in the same sentence but you'd be absolutely floored to see me drop a criminal to protect my 3 yeae old daughter. I would do the same for a classroom full of other people's kids.
And you obviously don't handle or carry weapons. They are under the control of the user. They don't just hop out of holsters and start blasting kids.

That is just not the same thing as some middle aged woman having a pistol on her hip with 15-20 8 year olds in the room. Again, there ARE people with guns at the school. Are there any states in the country that do not use school resource officers?
