Yeah, if land is taken, the owners will be compensated...
I just went through it with one of my vacation properties and a highway coming through... I was fairly compensated...

Obviously that money was being used to fund something else before the proposed wall. All it will do is shift around funds as whatever that money was previously being used for will need to be replaced.

You know, I hear this often but have seen it done several times and in each I have seen, the "fair market value" was actually the going value of the property at the time... Now, just because a landowner wants $1million for a $400K piece of property, does not make it a $1million piece of property...
Fairly compensated does not mean "got rich"...
