"Single use" plastic bags from the grocery story were very good for garbage bags. After NY banned them, I have to buy tall kitchen bags to replace them and end up with stacks of mostly useless paper bags too. The reusable plastic bags get funky kind of quick.

Blue state’s bag ban meant to protect environment backfires at staggering rate: study

quote:

Plastic consumption in New Jersey spiked by nearly three times following the state’s implementation of a strict ban on single-use plastic shopping bags, a study found.

"Following New Jersey’s ban of single-use bags, the shift from plastic film to alternative bags resulted in a nearly 3x increase in plastic consumption for bags," Freedonia Custom Research (FCR), a business research division for MarketResearch.com, reported in a study published this month.

They often don’t care. They just want to torment people and virtue-signal.

Especially if you're a bachelor.

When I lived in New Orleans I would reuse those and drop them in the municipal garbage cans.

But did it make them feel good to pretend that they were doing something good? Because that is all that matters.

Once again, a democrat policy with a veneer of good intentions is mostly destructive. Total shocker.

We reuse as doggy poop bags and trash bags in the small cans in the bathrooms.

I love the paper bags. Best way to pack and carry something to drop off.

Probably only throw half of my plastic bags away and repurpose the rest. Very handy things to have around.

If I remember correctly, they switched from paper to plastic because they didn’t want to kill trees.

Now they’re not happy with plastic.

Fickle.

Yep, they were always good for the worst diapers my kids could muster up. I pack one or two on trips to separate dirty clothes from cleans in the suitcase.

When the NY ban first happened, I order a few hundred from Amazon to replace the free supply.

So you can go to the grocery store and buy chips… in a plastic bag. Buy meat, wrapped in plastic wrap. Buy produce.. placing it in a plastic bag, buy cereal that inside the box is in a… plastic bag… Buy bread… in a plastic bag.

BUT!! … you cannot have a plastic bag to put all that plastic wrapped food to carry it home.

Its a byproduct though. No one is drilling for plastic production.

OK fine.

But how many times do you drop things off? 5 times a day?

Plastic bags are great for dog shite, the car, the bathroom, etc.
