Say her name.

I actually think it’s the instructor’s fault. How could he let this happen?

I will say this, 100ft sounds like a lot but if you aren’t paying attention you can cover that in a climb really fast.

I don't want to believe it but it does seem like he was getting a medical discharge (X-section 8) and was having an unattended crisis.

Section 8 discharge
This type of discharge was used for service members who were deemed mentally unfit for service. It was also often given to LGBTQ+ service members.

I just looked that up. Is that what you mean?

Also: the identity of the pilot can be guessed if you go to the exact commands of the 2 other pilots web page. There seems to be only one female blackhawk pilot.

What the heck mate, post it

So if the commercial airliner passed over the chopper by 100 feet you would consider that a safe distance? They should have been separated by vector.

What about the reports that the helicopter was told to return and land immediately? Has that been confirmed? If so, did something happen/mistakes made prior to the crash?

Which is insane that a deviation that small can be so deadly.

A half mile and 100ft can be closed in a matter of seconds with 2 aircraft exceeding 100-200mph. Humans will make mistakes. Need a larger margin for error.

That flight path is flawed and shouldn’t exist near a major approach.

Why the heck are people too scared to post the name?

Both canjunangelle and unfrozencavemanlawyer have said that the name is floating around but no one has posted it on our anonymous message board that is tailor made for posting it

So the scuttlebutt is now that the pilot of the BH was in the process of getting discharged for being mentally unfit?

If that's the case, wouldn't she/he have been grounded?

One would hope but it certainly adds fuel to the “it was intentional” fire.

Only the fixed wing was over 100 knots the rotary was around 70.

It would be really hard to fly to the spot perfectly for this to be on purpose.
