Without giving too many specifics; I work for a company that cut multiple white male candidates who outscored, out interviewed and out qualified every single minority we just hired.

Experienced the same. I was on the interview panel. No white candidates made it to the table.

this claim is ridiculous. What HR dept. would do that? Did she put “I’m a white girl” at the top of her resume?? I don’t believe it either

Lying on an application is sure to land her a job.

Yeah, not the best start to the interview process.

Like everyone else said, companies are falling all over themselves to hire black women.

Hell, our Atlanta office hired two young women for "diversity" and they never use them for any jobs other than office work (they're supposed to be geologists)

We have included several candidates that came no where near the minimum scoring into interviews because they were minorities.

Not just hiring but even more evident in promotions and incentives.

The company I work for has published race and gender goals for each level of employee. The bonuses of the top folks in the company depend on hitting the goals.

They’ve also created more than one program to award payouts based on things that are not measurable. These awards are basically retention bonuses to keep targeted employees around. Meanwhile, these awards can be used to justify promotions, big year-end bonuses and raises, etc.

Got in touch with a head hunter to get me througg the HR gatekeepers and had a new position in a few weeks.

Every hiring manager has a good headhunter or two when he really needs somebody qualified. You know, the project and the hiring manager's job is on the line. The hiring manager's priorities are different from HR and the hiring manager decides who gets interviewed. So headhunter candidates get past the affirmative action priorities of HR.

I dunno about job applications. But if you are applying for a college scholarship to an elite school and list yourself as white or Asian you better have some really impressive test scores plus a TON of community service with the disadvantaged.

A little less ethic? The problem is definitely not race.

Maybe, this is her real reason for not getting a job.

Molly or Connor, you've got a 14 percent better chance of getting a callback on your resume than if your name is Shanice or DeShawn

Well, stupid names are hard to pronounce and remember, so maybe HR just skips???

Moral of storry? Don't name your children stupid names. If you have a stupid name, get it legally changed, and stop being an arse.

A Black TikTok user has sparked discussion after claiming they only started getting responses to job applications after they listed their race as white.

quote:

“I have four interviews next week,” she says. “Same resume. Same qualifications. Same er’rythang.”

This is part of the problem. Nobody wants to hire an idiot who says "er'rythang". Show up late too many times and get fired for it, the company will have to deal with "racism! I'm suing!"

“...If your name is Molly or Connor, you've got a 14 percent better chance of getting a callback on your resume than if your name is Shanice or DeShawn,” Stovall says. The full study is available here.

Your name tells an employer a lot about the culture you were raised in. No self-respecting parent names their children "DeShawn" or "Shanice". It indicates they don't care about education, don't respect their fellow man and his property, and have a broken family where grandma raises the kids because dad is in prison and momma is out at the salon getting her weave on and nails did and checking her EBT card balance before she heads off to the club.

I'd toss an application into the trash if it said "DeShawn" on it.
