But some store bosses are furious about the plans, with the California Retailers Association mocking the move as an open invitation for thieves "to come in and steal."

Incentivizing crime under the guise of public and employee safety. See it for what it is…….continued efforts at societal unrest.

A number of states have already proven hostile to Cali refugees.

You think Texas will go easy on them?

It's unconstitutional for a government to incentivize crime.

California has made it a mission to shite on the constitution, wipe their arse with it, and then throw it into the streets where deification belongs.

So CA will prosecute businesses for trying to stop theft but they don't prosecute theft. Great idea.

I guess business will have to hire armed security. Maybe the sponsor of the bill owns a security company.

And people think the "moderate democrat voters" will just fall over themselves to vote for Newsome if they plug him in for Joe.

Government is supposed to protect private property. Not enable stealing of it.

The media machine will clean him up a hell of a lot for Democrat voters. He'll be a saint soon enough.

the proposed law will prevent workplace violence and protect staff from being forced by their employers to step-in during robberies

This seems like common-sense legislation. You're talking about activities which should be addressed by law enforcement personnel, not store clerks.

Most places already prevent physical encounters and the intent of the law is to protect the criminal, and punish the person who calls the cops.

Its a retarded bill that isn't necessary except to protect the thief.

So, you can steal up to like $900 worth of shite and it won’t be prosecuted, and now they want to make it illegal for retail employees to stop you from stealing.

So basically they have legalized theft and shoplifting.

Nice job California.
