SIAP - I searched for "in God we trust" and nothing came up

quote:

Hundreds of public schools in Louisiana will have to display the national motto of "In God We Trust" on their buildings by August 2019, after Gov. John Bel Edwards signed the proposed bill into law last week.

The governor's signature May 23 means public school authorities must now display the national motto in each building used by a school under its jurisdiction. The law also requires Louisiana's social studies curriculum to teach students about the motto by the 5th grade, a provision that expands upon the existing law that orders schools to teach students about the U.S flag and other "patriotic customs."

When the law was initially proposed to Louisiana's senators in March, State Sen. Regina Barrow, D-Baton Rouge, stressed it would help address "moral decay" in the public school system. She later told lawmakers she believes "this will serve to be an improvement to our schools" because they cannot assume students learn about the "patriotic history and founding of this country" when students are at home.

At this point, all I can do is laugh.

It was on here last week and it will be on here in a few months as the state spends thousands on defending lawsuits for this lunacy.

Well America was founded by people escaping religious persecution. We are quite literally a nation founded under God. I say that as a nonbeliever.

I wonder how many more seniors will have to be kicked out of nursing homes to finance the legal battle.

Until at least 80% of LA public school students can read at grade level, i don't think our state should finance putting mottos up at schools to help combat the moral decay in their homes.

And I say this as a practicing Catholic and elementary school teacher.

how about you sit down and watch some of the senate and house discussions. It will appall you at some of the crap these elected officials put in front of the congress. They are there to work together. They are there to get elected again. And until people stop voting based on skin color, this will only get worse.

When southern democrats and black politicians do things like this it makes you wonder why they're so ok with the national party being so anti-religion and against the basic things they stand for.

Why limit this to Southern and black democrats? 90% of voters vote party line without one thought to principles.

That's completely unfounded. If my party hated my way of life I wouldn't be part of that party.

anarchy has little to do with the belief in some higher power.

nor does it support laws.

nor did you grasp the purpose of my comment.

A triple fail from you in one post. Bravo. Even worse than you usually do!
