I ask myself this daily.
In reality, most crime is ignored by law enforcement. My wife had her back window broken out while she was driving on the interstate (years ago) by some a-hole that threw something out the window. My wife called the cops, got the plate number of the car that did it. The police didn't do a fricking thing.
I've had a friend who had an apple product stolen from his car. Well, apple products have a tracker on them. Surprise, surprise, the tracker led the police to a bad part of town. Police recovered the item but arrested no one, saying that it's a waste of time to arrest people for small time theft because it would just bog down the court.
So why do we have laws anyway, if they are not enforced? You can bet you last dollar if myself, or any other normal, well adjusted person committed any of these crimes, we'd feel the full brunt of the law. It's what we are taught growing up. But it seems like, those who are never taught consequences for their own actions, never have to suffer those consequences. It seems like the law only applies to those that follow the law.
