He is a liberal, and will never change, but he is smart enough to know that Democrats will continue to lose to the Trumps of the world if they keep it up. Actually it will get worse.
Today’s youth are not going to take it either. I know people who go to liberal arts schools where trans is open for certain students and adult liberal teachers - they see it first hand (and note how fricked up the students are). They abhore having it forced down their throats.
I can also make the argument (and know examples from family) that many gay people don’t fall in line with Trans+ as well.
Both groups will vote against that lifestyle and the purple-haired teacher.

The most infuriating talking point is "gender affirming care saves lives." Really? How? And how many?
It's fricking batshit crazy. A kid that believes in Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, etc has NO possible understanding of the long term and permanent repercussions of taking puberty blockers or surgeries. A child that age may however demand that they want to eat ice cream every meal or else they will kill his or herself. So the left's logic on this is that you must give the child ice cream every meal because it "saves lives."

That entire conversation frustrated the hell out of me.
Jon Lovett, the guy interviewing Maher, has frightening views that are very clearly mainstream thoughts in left-wing America. I cannot even wrap my brain around his arguments and defensive stance.

Yes, they will lose. So many people sick of all this trans crap. And more growing when they find out it's been put in their kids heads. And even more when they find out their kids are on puberty blockers without their knowledge.
The LGBTQ are losing a lot of the gays. This is very true. Not to the same degree, but the lesbians as well.
Both of them feel bullied by the T, and some feel the movement is going to end up breeding them out.
The purple haired teacher. The one that makes parents flinch or cringe the first time they see them?
Yeah, nobody wants those in the classrooms, or anywhere near their kids.

But, he's trying to pull the left back to moderacy. And he flat out calls their shite to their face. Something a lot more of their side needs to get the balls to do.
