Remember when the "conservatives" on this board, a couple of months ago, were screaming about the need for federal voting guidelines?
This is what happens when you open Pandora's box. You gave these idiots new ideas, and they, unlike you, have the ability to actually implement them.
They’ll say “we were talking about security” as if that distinction matters in the context of the US Constitution.
People can’t seem to wrap their head around the fact that you aren’t actually voting to select a president - you’re voting to select your state’s electors. The framers never intended for folks in Texas or Louisiana to be able to tell folks in Georgia or Minnesota how to choose their electors.
I’ve seen the same folks make all three of these arguments:
1. State legislatures can absolutely override the statewide vote and choose electors,
2. We need federal standards for national elections, and
3. H.R.1 is unconstitutional.
I have no idea how you can reconcile these opinions. It’s a blatant case of “politics over principles.”

If this passes it will go to the Supreme Court. I don't practice constitutional or election law, but there are all kinds of problems with this bill.

Surely the SCOTUS will do the right thing this time
This is how the Left will take the rest of the states where they can't cheat as effectively
They'll win every election by just enough to not trigger automatic recounts and the GOPe will constantly talk about getting them next time

It'd be great to have a set of national standards
Only if you're for a strong, central government. The US federal government was never meant to be that, thus voting rights were largely left up to the States. This flies squarely in the face of the 10th Amendment.

but I feel a presidential election should be conducted in a consistent manner in each state
Unfortunately, the time for that was before congress became so insanely weaponized. I think at this point, we are doing more harm than good.

Next election I plan to vote 26,551 times, by your standard that's ok to do with no checks and balances right?

This is exactly my thinking but of course I am not expert.
However, Dem's/Liberals have rarely allowed the Constitution to derail their agenda...

States' rights are not a thing except for in the fevered minds of people who are still butthurt that the South lost the Civil War.
States have powers.
People have rights.
Here is a guy that has studied neither American History or the U.S. Constitution.
Unfortunately, factually incorrect while extremely confident is the norm with U.S. voters these days.
