I really question this part:
If anything is "unproven," it's whatever alchemy he thinks is going to selectively remove one type of molecule from the atmosphere. I'd also suggest that using taxes to alter people's behavior is an extremely complicated tactic with unforeseeable effects. Oh, but it's planting trees that's unproven. WTF?
It is true that many emissions offset projects have fallen short of expectations. The answer to that is to get better at growing stuff. Maybe involve the local cooperative extension service or something. Figure out your USDA Hardiness Zone

The only reason to plant tree is to control which trees populate and area. All you need to do is leave an area alone and it will take care of the rest itself. No intervention required.

This may be crazy, but it is something I have been wondering about. What if solar is meant to reflect the sunrays back towards the sun? It will end up destroying the sun if we all turn to solar. Which is why Obama offered tax breaks to people to go solar. It will end up causing the waters throughout the Earth to rise. The elites have built D.U.M.B.s far under the ground. During this time, I wouldn't be surprised that if they retreat to the DUMBs while we all drown. It might be insane, but I wouldn't put it past those evil freaks.

Science is rooted in nominalism, and among other things, nominalism rejects the idea that all things have an inherent worth that we are obliged to respect. That’s probably where this is coming from.

Trees...plants in general...the oldest form of carbon capture around...must be bad right?
frick Bill gates. One of my teachers in college once said "If you cut all the rain forest down, so long as you used the trees in buildings or other more permanent ways...including just sinking them in the ocean...would do more to reduce CO2 here than anything else.". The logic being that new growth rain forest use up more CO2 and produce more O2 than the mature fully grown trees. Yo can't just burn them.
That was over 30 years ago and would still hold true today.

That would not have anywhere close to a measurable affect on the sun. Only as tiny fraction of the energy emitted from the sun reaches Earth. Then if we reflect that back from solar panels you are talking about something like a billionth of a billionth of the amount of energy the sun produces.

No one is proposing the removal of all CO2. They are proposing removing CO2 until we reduce it to the level it was about a century ago. There were plants then, you know.
