If Donald Trump had acted just two weeks earlier, 54,000 lives could have been spared in March and April alone.

Instead, he downplayed the threat and refused to take action — costing lives and sending our economy into a tailspin.

It’s an unjustifiable dereliction of duty.

You deserve a president who tells you the truth.

Donald Trump knew that COVID-19 was dangerous. He knew it was deadly. And he purposely downplayed it.

Now, nearly 200,000 Americans are dead.

It’s unconscionable.

Sometimes when you see the dishonesty, even when you expect it, it's incredible.

How the hell can he or his sitter tweet that?

I'd love to know how this number was arrived at. maybe a dart board? "Hey Joe, what number sounds like a lot but isn't too much. idk... 54,000?"

He said that in his totally off the cuff and definitely not prepared and coordinated speech yesterday. Also, if Trump had acted one week earlier, 35,000 lives would have been saved.

I had hoped a curious journo would have asked him what action a week earlier could the president have taken, but no questions were allowed.

Exactly. Reminds me of when Obama switched to the “jobs saved” metric when his job numbers didn’t look good. Of course the “jobs saved” number was completely made up.

Joe says we deserve a president that tells the truth yet he’s yet to quote one correct number on anything.

TRUMP needs to call them out for lying about the death numbers. CDC has come out and said that only 6% of those death numbers were actually from Covid.

Is that why Biden called a Trump a racist for the travel ban?

How could he know this?

They conveniently forget all the things the Trump admin was doing to deal with Covid, remember the Coronavirus Task Force briefings, all the experts giving the public all the information.

In the spring, after Trump ceased flights from China, Biden tweeted: “We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump’s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency.”
