We unenrolled. I had to prove my identity way more times in trying to unenroll than I ever had to do voting or filing taxes.

I was told policies that affected different races differently was racist even if there was no discrimination written into said policy.
I wonder which families are benefiting most...?

The bad thing is you have to go online and decline this.
Ugh, I didn't. Guess I'll be getting that money tomorrow? I'll just invest it. Earn some interest on it before I give it back.

It's a phase out over $150k for married:
This is a calculator if you scroll down
For example a married couple with 1 child under 6 would receive this year:
$150k income or less - $300/mo (6 mo.) + $1.8 credit on tax return
$175k income - $195.83/mo (6 mo.) + $1,175 credit on tax return
$182k-$400k income - $166.67/mo (6 mo.) + $1,000 credit on tax return [So same as previous child tax credit of $2k with monthly option]
$425k income - $62.50/mo (6 mo.) + $375 credit on tax return
$440k+ income - $0

This is called the beginning of Income redistribution in America. It is only the beginning of Biden’s guaranteed monthly income plan for poor peoples votes. There will be more poor people goodies in Joe’s 3.5 trillion $ infrastructure bill as well. I am afraid that America as we know it is over. I hope I’m wrong.

are you suggesting everyone who gets a CTC is a non-taxpayer? You might want to read up on this thing before speaking further on the subject.

Is there anyway those checks can bounce?

Buying more votes at the cost of the American taxpayer.
They're gonna be so pissed when they find out I will never vote for a single democrat ever again and still take their money.
Jokes on them. Thanks for the guns and ammo I will buy with this extra cash
exactly. we earned that money in the first place, might as well spend it where we want. i don't get the urge to "opt out" as a protest. what is the end result? the government keeps more of your money and gives it to someone else?

Tax payers buying future democratic votes.

how you have a child in poverty if you make 74k a year?
Like wtf?
Yeah. I don't get tax code at all. Or the thought process behind this... But I make slightly below 150 and my wife doesn't work. Maybe I'm poor and I didn't realize it, but we live plenty comfortably. Don't need this or the thousands of other dollars they sent our way during the pandemic. But whatever. Spent it on ammo and freeze dried food (which has been hit pretty hard by inflation too unfortunately).

My prediction is this will be an extremely popular program. Which makes sense as this is originally a republican idea being implemented by the democrats. The last big republican idea implemented by a democratic president is likewise very popular today.
From a pure policy perspective I certainly believe a direct subsidy is more effective to achieving the policy goals of this federal expenditure than a child tax credit. Alternatively, I’d entertain eliminating this expenditure entirely but there isnt a political party interested in cutting spending. So as long as our federal budget contains mountains of corporate welfare I’m happy to see individual families get thrown a bone here.
It’s also weird to me to see so many people proudly stating they will opt out. Since when has this board been in favor of giving the government interest free loans?

As someone else mentioned, I suspect the leftists appreciate this and have already plotted how they'll remedy it for some portion of the population.
Like how we couldn't use payroll tax breaks to help COVID unemployment because leftists objected that people who were already unemployed weren't paying them anyway and wouldn't get anything. It's absurd.

Chavis’ defense would be the Biden Administration. Just let everyone run straight past you across the border.

No kids here but...
If you direct deposit $300 into my girlfriend's bank account every month, she will piss away every penny of that money at Starbucks, Target, online clothing retailer, etc.
If you send her a $3000 check in March, she will deposit that entire check into her IRA and allow her investments to grow until retirement.
I'm sure a lot of men - and some women - can sympathize.
