The CPF had nothing to do with this set up. Alabama, Alabama, and Ole Miss all lost only one SEC game, Alabama beat Georgia who beat Ole Miss, ergo Alabama and Georgia play in SECCG.

Amongst other things.
re: Sort of SEC related with Rhule as a coaching candidate. Check out Nebraska's recruits

I seem to predate the collective memory of the majority of this board. I remember reading in Sport magazine in the late 50s or very early 60s (yes I’m old but I was in junior high) an article about the sorry state of the Big 8. A cartoonish graveyard with 7 tombstones with names including Nebraska stood before the lone player representing Oklahoma standing tall.

Way to double down on dumb. There is no United States Marine Academy hence no Marine Academy football team.
Haven’t bought a Phil Steele annual in several years but seem to remember one of his stronger indicators of yearly improvement was the number of close losses the year before.

Hope this isn’t TL:DR
The chairman of deacons goes to talk with minister when he hears another church has offered a job. Minister’s 6 yo son answers door and deacon asks to speak with minister. Son says “He’s in study praying about possible move”.
“Where’s your mother?”
“She’s upstairs packing”

Just a question, aren’t the conference championship games before the ballots are required to be in? Will probably depend on these.
Tennessee 28
Auburn. 22
Ties. 3
Current Winspedia record:
Auburn. 29 wins
Tennessee 22. Wins

Any explanation?

Going by history, I recall after the ‘79 bama-UTK game walking off the field I saw a man in the lower sideline seats with a shirt which
said something to the effect that Tennessee had to play the 11 bama players plus the 5 officials. I always wondered how he came prepared for official incompetence.

I reminded of m our medical school neurosurgeon who attended a Morbidity and mortality conference in town with reports from all the hospitsls. In order each representative listed the number of cases done and replied “No morbidity, no mortality.” After the 3 other hospitals reported, he sat for a second then jumped up and yelled “We won”.
AU says we won.
AU says we won.

Because you are. What percentage of your fans have DNA from the original cheaters, i. e. Sooners.

For the same reason bulldogs lick their testicles- because they can. No protection allowed for the targets. Thanks tampon Tim.

Several days ago after watching and listening to the CEO and seeing CMO I suddenly came to believe that maybe the Glass Ceiling was actually a good idea.

[quote]Shug wanted them to go with Barfield and the weren’t going to tell him no.[/quote
The next year Sports Illustrated had an article about 4 new coaches that year. As I recall, they printed that the administration( AU president) forced the hire of Barfield. Also, staff restrictions had several assistants fired or upset at the hire.
For my fellow fans/alumni I was driving down to the plains on Friday evening in 1988 and I heard the radio announcer say “Now it’s time for the Coach Doug Barfield show”. My heart skipped a beat and I thought the Dye years have only been a dream. Then I realized I was hearing the Opelika High School pregame show for that night.

re: Florida/Auburn fans, how big was the rivalry when it was played every year?

As a student in the late 60’s it produced some great games, like the 9 times we intercepted UF in 1969 or the year Steve Spurrier kicked the FG to bet us in Gainesville. The games in the 80’s and 90’s were epic. I even recall Ray Graves UF post game shows from the late 50’s and early 60’s. Gosh, I haven’t mentioned the ‘93 game at JHS.

In 1979, I was around some Bama football officials and the were discussing history of MSU and UA. They talked about when Hank Crisp coached there and after scrimmages they would load up a bus and carry them to Starkville to scrimmage the Maroons.

WE HAVE A WINNER!
Initially, I figured Bama, UGA, and historically Miss St but Fla or LSU are likely.
