As far as I’m concerned that’s a direct threat of a nuclear strike to me and my neighbors. “Thinking of destroying the government? Then I’ll nuke your arse, and sorry if all your neighbors and your entire town has to go with you, but I look at them as accomplices.”

I think most people are forgetting the context.

Bumbling Joe is responding to the right's argument of 2A to defend ourselves against the government. So, he says it's futile. He goes on to say "the founder father's knew it right away because cannons are superior to muskets etc..." Sooo, instead of Joe bolstering the 2nd Amendment that our founding father's wished for us to have and giving us access defense weapons of a higher echelon to defend ourselves in a modern conflict - He goes off the deep end and says "Patriots" would lose to F-15's and nukes.. Who in the frick says that to their citizens?

Let's give examples of Trump's blustery hyperbole -
quote:

"This is the greatest economy in the world."

Let's see what a prideful Joe says, "

"Patriots" defending themselves from the government would lose to F-15's and nukes

I don't think people truly comprehend how it is one of the most outrageous things ever uttered by a sitting US President.

Which year(s) did you serve in Afghanistan (for the USA)? I’m genuinely curious.

Truck drivers could shut down the Government. Tough to eat in DC, NYC, Chicago, LA, etc when the food stops showing up.

you're not wrong. if you just take a step back from any right/left arguments of today, and realize that a sitting US President just said that to what amounts to half of the US population, it's horrifying.

But you voted for a puppet seemingly controlled by the CCP.

This doesn’t compute unless you are a Marxist and want to fundamentally change the country that “you love.”

And yet we’re leaving. Strongest military in world history and we’ve accomplished Jack shite. Lost lives, money, and countless other resources and we sure as hell haven’t even come close to winning. The place is reverting back to the 1500’s as we speak. Without total destruction of the indigenous population, governments don’t win these against a determined enemy.
The only worthwhile mission was to smoke out / turn into smoke Bin Laden and AL Qaeda.

Telling a bunch of people who want to live under barbaric rules that they need a new government is like telling Alabama to adopt a rainbow state flag and support AOC as their new leader.

I give 56 shite (and rightfully so), but at least she served. For that I thank him. They put the time in.

McGrath...I would like to know if they were in Afghanistan (on the side of the USA).

I don't know about this. For one, I am absolutely sure the US security state would willingly lay waste to anyone it wants to, and it has done so across the world time and again. They certainly have shown no scruples about sending young Americans to die abroad, and I'm not sure the thought they would be killing Americans on home soil would prevent them from doing so, if the situation was so dire that it resulted in the US security apparatus losing power.

Secondly, while the US citizenry is heavily armed, it is also heavily atomized, and that doesn't bode well for the key feature of resistance movements, which is robust organization, something the VC and the Taliban definitely had. We are also far more likely to break into smaller groups fighting one another than we are to organize against the government. That makes the control aspect much easier.

Thirdly, the US population is relatively old and super fricking fat across all classes and demographics. That would be the most surprising part of any future resistance.

All you need is a fair and honest election. A statement like that is one made by a tyrant that governs by Executive Order.

lol not totally. If we’re being serious many places would cause some “troubles”. IRA type of stuff. Never thought In my lifetime we could see it, but years down the road I’m afraid it might start.
Might not even be years.

If Biden nuked or ordered an F-15 strike against a private citizen(s), I’m immediately driving to Washington and getting extremely violent. We’d need to go full Bastille Day, kill at least a ton of people in the Executive Branch, kill everyone in our intelligence agencies, kill off some of Congress, and just start from scratch. It would be the end of the country since I don’t think any non-coward would stand for that. The only circumstance I can possibly fathom nuking your own city is if the aliens from A Quiet Place crash land on Earth and we have to kill them immediately.

That's a rather unnecessary and irresponsible thing for a president to say. We've sunk so far

I deployed to RC East Ghazni,Afghanistan from April 2012 - January 2013. My unit operated out of COP Moqur.

First hand experience fighting Taliban being equipped with the best weaponry, support from Air Force and Field Artillery I can say that it is pretty demoralizing.

Fighting a bunch of dudes wearing knockoff adidas shoes armed with knockoff AK-47s just makes you wonder why they won't just go away after killing a bunch of their buddies the day before.
