Why not make the shipping company pay its part.

The same government that demanded Norfolk Southern to fund the train derailment aftermath?

I wonder what the difference between the 2 are? Just kidding, we know

Yeah and we better send the bill to that shipping company or they can kiss their access to US ports goodbye

Sweet- does that mean he is picking up the full tab on the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge too?

FedEx just rammed a truck into someone's home. Maybe he'll pay that bill as well.

Wouldn’t the shipping company be on the hook?

Who cares about how much? It's about how many - how many blacks, Hispanics and trannies are getting paid on the project.

The Boston tunnel system (two tunnels -Summner and Ted Williams-, Zakim Bridge, a shite ton of roadway) started out at 3b and wound up at over 20b - that was close to 20 years ago now.

Recent construction that is comparable to the upcoming Baltimore project is The Mario Cuomo Bridge (I'll still call it the Tappan Zee). It came in at 4b, is 3 miles long and took 7 years to complete.

I figure the the grift for Baltimore will be strong and mission creep will include shite that isn't even related to the bridge. My guess: 10b and 5yrs, minimum cost and time to build. Which prolly means expect 25b and 10 years...

I’m no Biden fan, but wasn’t it an interstate highway anyway (I-695), which would fall under federal funding?

He was supposed to ask the federal government to pay for it, not claim it.

The amount of pork in it will be staggering. All the local state unions will be funded for 25 years and homeless will get some displacement crap.

I think the gov would fund and sue the shipping company if necessary, but not let the rebuild be delayed by collecting.

Ten years and 25 billion dollars later, the George Floyd Memorial Bridge will be completed.

The bridge and the port don't even belong to the Federal government. Those are state owned. Look at the port bridges in Savannah, Charleston, Jacksonville, or Mobile. They make the Francis Scott Key bridge look like a bucket of junk that couldn't survive a bump from a kayak. Seriously, the Baltimore bridge was badly out dated and needed modernization. It was an accident waiting to happen. Some of those bridges at NYC look really old an fragile too.

That being said, maritime rules require that the ship drop anchor and wait for repair, if it has power problems. That did not happen. As there was enough time to call in an emergency and get local bridge traffic stopped, there was time to drop anchor. It's too bad that the ship lost power but they could have dropped anchor, stopped the boat and avoided crashing into the bridge. Heck it the harbor is only 50 feet deep. This is a really bad look for the ship captain, like there was incompetence and horrible decision making.

The only issues I could see with the Key Bridge were a lack of protection for the pylons and no shoulders on the bridge deck. Other than that the bridge was fine.

Also, the Talmadge Bridge in Savannah is about to have to be raised due to increasing ship sizes (and eventually replaced).

That’s how liberal minds work. Everything is the government.
