this.

Historically it doesn't make sense. Dropped some bombs, ended the war, Marshall plan. I'd take Harry Truman right now in a HEARTBEAT

Some nights. He's lucky when he doesn't end up shitting in the linen closet.

Different point in Truman's term. Biden is about 16 months in. The Korean War started just over 5 years after Truman became president and MacArthur was fired even later.

16 months in for Truman would be about September 1946. I don't get why he would be so unpopular.

And whatever figure the media cites is grossly inflated. He did win more votes than any other president in history though!

I bet he wasn’t. I’m thinking the modern approval ratings began in 45, so that’s as far back as they go.

If Democrat leadership wants, he can get 49+% of the vote in 2024. It’s really up to their wanting him to

A lot of it was his desegregation of the military. Southern democrats (and some northerns) hated him and that's when you get the dixiecrat party and Strom Thurmond. Also a lot of people were tired of of democrat presidents because you'd had one since 1933 and fdr

How is the poll worded? Is it worded as an actual approval for Biden, or is it worded as a dislike for the orange man?

Or it was poorly worded and he meant Truman at a later point.

No way was Truman this unpopular at the 15-month mark. That would be right after Japan surrendered.

WW2 wasn't quite as popular a war during WW2 at home as it is portrayed by media sources in hindsight. Truman's unpopularity at the time could be the result of general war fatigue, topped by slower troop withdrawals from Europe and lifting of rationing systems than was promised.

This didn't happen until 1948.

Joe Biden is now the least popular president (net approval) at this point in office of any president going back to Truman in 1945, according to the @FiveThirtyEight
combined poll tracker

I'd like to point out a historical fact. As unpopular as Truman may have been in 1945, during the next Presidential election in 1948, Truman won re-election over the Republican nominee Thomas Dewey in an upset.

I wonder if history will repeat itself in 2024....

There's a huge difference between Truman and Biden......history shows Truman wasn't a corrupt and immoral man, particularly when compared to Biden.
