24 judges so far who are claiming senior status, whereby they may step away from the bench to allow for a replacement while still collecting their salary and work a reduced case load, include three U.S. District Court judges in the California Bay Area: Phyllis Hamilton, the district’s chief judge, and William Alsup – both Clinton appointees – and Jeffrey White, appointed by Republican President George W. Bush.

Including judges who had already taken senior status or retired before the 2020 election, more than 70 vacancies await Biden, the majority on the trial level district courts.

They own everything that happens from here on out. If the histrionics over a supposed insurrection didn’t clue you in as to the direction they’re heading, it’s unlikely that anything will.

Trump made 261 total appointments of judges. (Thank God)

Who made the point that they didn't? The point was Mitch left 46 seats open.

The majority of those are district court vacancies in liberal blue states where they had at least one democrat senator who would not pull the blue slip they were using to block Trump’s nominees.

Liberal blue states like Washington, New York, California, New Jersey and elsewhere in New England.

And besides, those liberal vacancies were not a high priority for Mitch compared to vacancies in red and purple states and the circuit courts and SCOTUS.

There are no blue slips for Circuit courts of appeal and the Supreme Court and there was nothing democrats could do to stop Trump from filling those spots provided GOP has the votes to confirm.

And Mitch and Trump filled every circuit and SCOTUS vacancy that came up because they didn’t have to worry about any blue slip.

McConnell is useless. Any monkey could have done what he did when he was senate majority leader and a pimple on a monkey's arse could do what he is doing now.

Not much of a victory for Donald Trump in the end. His appointed judiciaries have thrown away his legal challenges on the 2020 presidential election and Supreme Court Justice Niel Gorsuch established that LGBT folks possess protections under existing laws.

Three SCOTUS confirmations & scores of circuit court judges against the modern dim resistance movement (in overdrive with Trump in office) in a single term is a huge accomplishment, regardless of their chickenshit dodging of 2020 vote challenges.

That is, of course, unless the dims pack SCOTUS.

Unfortunately, conservative judiciaries are typically not conservative ideologues. As we have seen in a number of cases over the years, they have their own interpretations of the law that may go against a number of politically conservative groups.

I guess Hong Kong is truly under the control of the CCP. At least you and Lebron may be happy.

Not going to disagree, but that is the inherent rub with an 'independent' appointed judiciary, and still better than avowed activist judges.

Of the benches that were “open” at the end of the Trump administration, for how many of them had Trump submitted a nominee that McConnell did not move thru the process?

Cannot blame McConnell for folks that are retiring THEREAFTER.

EDIT:
Thanks Sentrius.

I will take Judicial Activism for $500, Alex.

To be clear, “Conservative” and “Far Right Ideologue” are not synonyms. In fact, you have admirably demonstrated that they are often antonyms.
