quote:No. It isn’t. It’s entirely pragmatic. If “we” wanted it we’d already have it without the government threatening “the rich” to make it happen.
This is more of the ideological argument.
People say they want it. Because it’s the polite thing to say. When it comes time for them to open their wallets... not so much.
Hell, just look in in this thread. There are people that done even want to lost for their own care muchless anyone else’s.
quote:Nope. Have a look at polling where proposals are coupled with tax increases compared those without.
Practically speaking, tax-paying Americans are in favor of providing emergency medical treatment to those regardless of their immediate ability to demonstrate they have the means to pay. Knowing they will foot the bill.
quote:Duck. dive. dodge.
Let’s now move on and discuss shades of grey.

If you really want a good example —psychiatry. Cash pay you get an appointment in a couple of weeks. Medicaid... forget it.
If anyone argues against the fact that cash payer or quality insurance will get you appointments quicker, they are an idiot.
However, to make a blanket statement that only procedures that are mostly “cash only” have improved while their price has decreased or mostly stayed stable is also quite the mischaracterization.

It is a basic human right. I wake up at 4am every day and go run several miles, then make healthy food choices throughout my day. That’s how I exercise this specific basic human right.

What has govt ever done in the past that makes you believe govt provided healthcare would be "quality"?

And whats one commonality between LASIK and Plastic Surgery?
Ahhhh, right... Insurance either doesn't, or didn't cover them. Amazing.

Hip and knee arthroplasty for starters.
Better? Possibly.
Cheaper? The numbers tell a different story.
Again, this largely elective procedure paid for with Medicare dollars has gotten more expensive over time

I doubt if Bernie means it comes from God since he is an atheist
If someone is an atheist can they truly support and defend America's constitution since the rights are said to be given by God? Just food for thought.

Exercise inequality!

This is the right to pursue healthcare, and it is a true right in this arena unlike the fake right that Bernie and others push.

I'm willing to bet that americans would NOT be in favor of this if it were presented honestly and we were told how much extra taxes the average household would need to pay per year. The post youre replying to had it exactly correct.

The hospital saves your life, end of story. The bills come later. Nobody is going to be turned away for not having the money to pay upfront. It doesn't work like that.
When the constitution was written there was no universal healthcare.

Because at that point you may have an apples-to-apples comparison to M4A. Until then, relative to your 6th Amendment claim, you do not.
Maybe you missed why I brought it up, but the claim was that your right cannot be to someone else's labor. I was pointing out that it's a terrible argument, as I'm sure you'd agree.

It's a good argument.
Particularly if the gubment starts regulating pricing.

right to top quality healthcare
Did you catch this stupidity all you fools in here arguing for the "Right"?
Notice the sleight of hand? THIS is what I already addressed in the thread. People not only think they have a "right to "health care" which includes basically every possible level of doctor.
They think they have a RIGHT to TOP QUALITY.
LOL, even if I handed the Federal govt $999T, you can't get a "right" to TOP QUALITY.
I mean, ya know. The best doctors in the country still only have 24 hours in a day to work with.
fricking idiots.
