This must be such a difficult time for you.

I don’t see how American oil companies will invest in this. The first Democrat that gets in the WH is going to release Maduro and all their investments will go down the tubes.

What is our CURRENT deal with Venezuela? The Administration won't even let Congress see it.

Dont vote for them then.

The US government would have to basically insure all the oil company investments in Venezuela. And I’d imagine they would need long-term assurances so we’re likely looking at actual legislation going through congress before US companies start spending there

The way it is written it sounds like the deal is with the US Govt and hence would have the protection of the US Govt. I assume this would open the door for major oil companies to come in.
Just FYI, I worked with a Process Control Engineer from Venezuela recently and she said Maduro burned most of the country's oil and gas refineries so they are dependent now on getting that oil to market.

If they did, there would be insider trading.

chevron is heavily invested there, they are pumping out 400 to 700 million in cash flow a year.
Maduro aint going back to Venezuela, he would be dead within the week.
Venezuela will be a democracy soon.
Is it risky sure, but at least states arent suing them like they are in the US......

The Bawcomeville truck manufacturer might have to open satellite facilities in Washington D.C. and Caracas.

What deal should be made???? Chavez straight up stole the means of production of Venezuelan oil from American corporations!!! And you can be your arse that the cost to bring all the oil infrastructure (which Venezuela has allowed to disintegrate) will be paid for by your and my tax dollars.
