China wins every day we don’t open back up

But if we find a good treatment in a month that severely curtails future deaths, the lockdown will start looking really good. You see?
How many coronaviruses do we have a real treatment for? I don't think it's many. This is like hoping for a vaccine in the next 2-3 months

The anti-shut down types are also guessing about the economic toll even
It really isn’t a guess, the economic toll has been severe and will continue to get worse the longer this drags on, barring additional trillion dollar cash infusions - which I am not a fan of.
Meanwhile, everything about this virus has been a guess from day one, and we have made all decisions based on worst case scenario. On day one this is excusable. On day whatever-we-are-now, it’s stupidity.

You’re right, I’m sure we would have lost 26MM jobs since Feb. without the shutdown.
I understand not wanting to jump to conclusions, but pretending the shutdown is not having a severe economic impact is just plain stupid.

I’m not for either way. There’s a lot of fervent support for opening on here and based on the information provided thus far there’s really no basis. If I was JBE I wouldn’t take your recommendations based solely on the fact you have zero to back it up.

Now - 287

The $100M field hospital in Nola shows that whatever "science" he is working with hasn't exactly been correct. This board literally had better advice

Because they told us the only reason for the shutdown was to "flatten the curve" so hospitals weren't overrun. Even in a hot spot like New Orleans, hospitals are still far under capacity.

I disagree with your premise that the default state of things should be lockdown.
Lockdown proponents should have to justify the lockdown every day that it exists, not the other way around.
They justified it early on by saying it was the only way to not overwhelm the hospitals.
What is the justification now?
