How many air bases and army installations does Utah have that can be put on the chopping block for federal funding and/or closures? You have to hit him through his constituents.

Why would the administration want to punish a red state over a vote that does not matter?

Being punitive against a state that will and has given you electoral votes is asinine.

What can we do?

We can stay on Donald Trump to campaign for MAGA candidates BEFORE the primaries.

As A Non Utah Citizen What Can We Do About Mitt
I'm so pissed with Romney. As someone that lives in Louisiana, what can we do to this guy other than send him nasty emails (which I already did). Can we do anything else? This guy needs to be kicked in the teeth!

Well, now that impeachments can occur for political reasons, he can be expelled.

quote:

The Constitution simply states that each house of Congress may "punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member."

It seems totally reasonable that these actions become the norm now that the seal has been broken.

SCOTUS hasn’t ruled because it hasn’t been attempted.

Exactly.

It’s unconstitutional, and would be ruled so with quickness if challenged.

Speculation.

I emailed his office letting him know my disappointment in him. I also let him know that if he ran for any national office I would not vote for him and would actively speak out against him.

Other than that you can't really do anything.

Email Turtle to have the scum removed from all committees. Email the RNC to support expulsion from the party.

Speculation

There is a reason this speculation is unanimous amongst those who have actually read SCOTUS’ opinions on the states attempting to legislate various aspects of congressional terms and elections. This would be no different. Clarence Thomas, easily one of the more states rights inclined justices, has stated that once the citizens of the states elect a member of Congress, it’s over until the next election. Once elected, they are part of the federal government and there is no more place in the process for any state or its citizens.

The removal processes in each house of Congress are the only mechanism.

Can you cite these cases?

I’d like to peruse them.

Any of the Term Limits cases should suffice. Thornton is probably the most recognized.

Hopefully, a recall movement is being organized in Utah as we watch this vote.

Hopefully.

Correct. Romney’s vote is representative of the will of the people in Utah, and his re-election in 2025, should he seek it, will confirm this.

MAGAe only respect the will of some of the people, though.
