They adopted the “cool symbolism” from previous political regimes throughout history and slapped the Nazi logo on it. The amazing thing is how quickly this “memorabilia” was produced at great precision.

Every time these threads come up I try and point people in the direction of Hitler’s political last will and testament because apparently most don’t know of its contents. Hitler clearly lays out the course to his suicide and it is entirely consistent with the worldview he expressed every time he discussed such subjects and it was in tradition with how the Germans often dealt with defeat. There is no way Hitler would have fled and allowed his reputation and all his life’s example to be ruined by fleeing while Germany fell and commanding his officers and soldiers to hold out to the last.

People tend to believe what they want to believe with respect to historical narrative but there really is no compelling case for Hitler escaping Berlin. Josef Goebbels and his wife worshipped Hitler and they too both saw fit to kill themselves and all of their children to follow Hitler’s example. Goebbels too when he spoke to the defenders of Berlin highlighted that the German leadership was not asking them to sacrifice themselves so that they could flee, but said publicly that he and his family would remain in Berlin come what may. This was to establish solidarity and to encourage the people to fight knowing they would either succeed or all would perish together. The Nazi leadership were very keen on historical narrative and there is no way they would allow themselves to be dishonored by fleeing in the final battle.

It was Hitler's half brother IIRC who was much younger and I think he was brought up mostly outside of Germany. The two nephews live(d) on Long Island. Never married and live as veritable hermits.. There's another family member who actually converted to Judaism and lives in Israel

They went all over South America. Argentina, Uruguay Brazil, Southern Chile a few to Paraguay. A Colombian buddy of mine said that a large amount went there as well ..
