It bears mentioning that up until a few weeks ago the “team” had as a pillar diametrical opposition to military adventurism and regime change, especially in Asia.

Yes. This has to end with regime change. Munitions can be rebuilt. The people that we’ve repeatedly told to rise up are there and will be slaughtered if we leave them unarmed. Then there is still the enriched uranium sitting out there they must be captured.

They were doing this before we started dropping bombs.

Sounds like it, but is meeting those conditions important to you?
I think the sooner we do a course correction on this still relatively mild misadventure the better, even if it makes us look weak and potentially gives Iran a strategic win by surviving. We’re pumping a dry well.

At this stage yes. They obviously have a multi-week target agenda. Why not demands unconditional surrender while we are working on our target list.
Once objectives are achieved then you have a negotiating goal
This ^^^ is probably the best strategy right now. Smack Iran around hard enough so they are 5-10 years away from threatening any nation in the ME.
However, the long term goal of the Islamists vs Western civilization will remain, to topple Western civilization and to establish a global Islamic caliphate.
As long as the Islamic goal of conquering Western civilization is pursued there will be an inevitable final showdown between the West and Islam .....or the West will simply submit to the Islamists because of the Red/Green Alliance that's alive and well in Europe and growing in the US.

This will require rooting out the regime.

Disagree, but it will be disappointing if we don’t get changes at the top.
We just put on the world’s largest weapons expo and there’s a lot of power in that.

Right. We’ve told them to wait to make a move. If we leave them hanging everyone knows how it will end and the numbers will be far greater than the 30,000ish that were killed earlier this year. The point is that we’ve made promises to these people and we cannot leave them hanging. They will not be able to do what needs to be done without being armed.

Not gonna lie, I hate that he's posting crap like this. Giving me neocon flashbacks from the early 00s.
Our objective was to eliminate the nuclear and terrorist threat. I'm all for finishing the job of doing that.
And about 5 seconds after that's done, we need to tip toe TF out of there before the inevitable sectarian brawl starts.
Time for the Iranian/Persion people to get their stuff together and step up. This is the moment to advance. If they won't or can't, Americans soldiers and taxpayers cannot foot the bill for a third ME clusterf*ck.

They both view the West, and particularly Christians as their common enemy. Drilling a bit deeper, they also believe the West is essentially a White Patriarchy that loosely subscribes to Christian morals and values. The Red part of the Alliance hates Christianity more than the Islamists.

We do not have a good history with this policy with Muslim populations.

Regime change was never the goal, so this meme is stupid.
And here we see the fruits of the admin never committing to a stated goal.
Can always claim victory post-hoc, no matter what happens
no body believes you're a lawyer boy, you obviously have some sort of income that allows you to post a half of a million times on this website, the mostly likely source of that income would be social security disability,
you're a lawyer they way george costanza was an architect.

I wouldn’t argue otherwise but it’s where we find ourselves. No matter what the administration has said contrary to it the goal has always been regime change there. It has to be. You cannot do what we’ve done and expect everything to be hunky dory if we just walk away short of getting a new government voted on by the Iranian people. Even that comes with risks. The hardliners are not small in number and they’ll bring the insurgency with them after they lose an election.

"An hour ago" from that post was 9:20
I was out by 9:30 and back at my office prior to 9:48
If you look at my posts, there was a gap from 8:44am to 9:39am. There is a reason for that.

When the war started it was Ayatollah Khomeni, as of today the head of Iran is Ayatollah Khomeni.
