He said last week that McDonald’s workers contribute more and are more skilled than any manufacturing job that could possibly be brought back to the US.

That's not what he said.

What he said is that the McDonald's jobs are more productive, and they are, and what defines that is simple math. It's not an opinion.

This board looooooves tossing off to Rush Limbaugh. That frickin' guy was a straight up, purist, unapologetic capitalist.

I'd like this board to tell us all how MAGA and it's turn toward old style democrat populism and class warfare would please him.

so we'll leave that one alone.

I still think America is the greatest opportunity to build wealth in the world but I also think there are entities who wish to slow down or kill upward mobility. The whole you will own nothing and be happy campaign a while back is one example. Owning a home has long been a wealth building tool. Now we have generations who may not ever experience that as evidenced by the % of home owners shrinking year over year.

Boomers led the home buying market last year for the first time in a while.

I was speaking of the offshored jobs that left, that people want back, for some reason.

Some of these are engineering jobs offshored to India. Since when is a McDonald’s worker more skilled than an engineer?

Considering the middle class has been shrinking for decades,

Is there objective data in a chart somewhere for this? Did the numbers shift to the upper class or the lower class?

McDonald’s workers are not more productive whatsoever.

MAGA needs to be fitted for some of these the way the board sounds lately.

They are by definition, because people are paying them to do McDonald's stuff. Nobody is paying the unemployed US engineer to do engineer stuff because they're paying an Indian instead.

quote:

The American middle class has experienced a notable decline over the past several decades, with significant shifts in income distribution. According to a Pew Research Center analysis, in 1971, 61% of U.S. adults lived in middle-income households. By 2015, this proportion had decreased to 50%. During the same period, the share of adults in upper-income households increased from 14% to 21%, while those in lower-income households rose from 25% to 29%.

This trend indicates that while some individuals have moved into higher income brackets, a larger portion has shifted into lower-income tiers. The middle class's share of aggregate income has also diminished, dropping from 62% in 1970 to 43% in 2014. Conversely, the upper-income tier's share of aggregate income rose from 29% to 49% during this period

I didnt read all of your post but why can't it be universally agreed that America is stronger with a larger and stable middle class?

The working poor are probably about equal to terrorists in the eyes MAGA voters though.

But that's not even happening.

Home ownership was at a historical high in 2004 with over 69% of adult Americans having owned a home. It went down to 63.5% in 2016 and is back up from then to 65.6% last year.

The decade of the 60s home ownership was lower than it is now, at 65.2%. During the 70s it ranged from a high of 65.6% (exactly what is was in 2024) to a low of 64.2%. In the 80s it started off at 65.6% and went down as the decade progressed to a low of 63.8%.

I could keep going, but the point is that I don't know how told you that home ownership was declining year over year, but whoever it was just listened to some guy on the internet and didn't bother to look it up for himself.
