quote:

And what I believe is, is that America does best when the middle class does better, and when ordinary folks who maybe were born into poverty are able to climb their way into the middle class, that’s good for everybody. The economy grows best not from the top down, but from the bottom up and from the middle out.

quote:

Productivity of the average worker has doubled the last 50 years, but wages have only gone up 38%.

quote:

And so I do think that right now we have this no-holds-barred, Wild West hyper-capitalism. What that means is profit at any cost.

quote:

For many, the American dream has become a nightmare.

quote:

This is about more than fairness. When middle-class families can’t afford to buy the goods and services our businesses sell, it actually makes it harder for our economy to grow. Our economy cannot truly succeed in a winner-take-all system where a shrinking few do very well while a growing many struggle to get by.

quote:

I think that politically, this upper-middle class is probably more moderate, but that upper-middle class doesn’t exist anymore in America, and thanks to the continued deregulation of Wall Street, thanks to the continued gutting of working- and middle-class people, we need stronger champions.

quote:

Let us wage a moral and political war against the billionaires and corporate leaders, on Wall Street and elsewhere, whose policies and greed are destroying the middle class of America.

quote:

While globalization and technology have opened up new opportunities, have driven remarkable economic growth in previously struggling parts of the world, globalization has also upended the agricultural and manufacturing sectors in many countries. It’s also greatly reduced the demand for certain workers

quote:

Working-class Americans want a clear champion, and there is nothing radical about moral clarity in 2018.

quote:

What I see is that politicians takes working class communities for granted

quote:

The president can boast about the stock market all he wants—the American people know it doesn't put food on the table. We need an economy that works for the many, not just the wealthy and large corporations.

quote:

I believe this is the defining challenge of our time: Making sure our economy works for every working American.

I didnt read all of your post but why can't it be universally agreed that America is stronger with a larger and stable middle class?

I didn't recognize all of them, but at least some of those are Bernie-Democratic-Socialist-The-Voice-Of-The-Anteater-On-The-Pink-Panther-Sanders.

I'm sure it can. I don't know anyone who would deny that.

But people disagree on how to facilitate that outcome.

He said last week that McDonald’s workers contribute more and are more skilled than any manufacturing job that could possibly be brought back to the US.

There has been a debate (long before hyper-polar politics and the era of Trump, or even Obama) about what "the middle class" is.

For example, it's typical for people to use salaries/income in the top 10% as "middle" class. Right now that's about 195k (when this debate was first started on here the number was much lower but % the same).

How you define what "middle class" changes the discussion drastically

Considering the middle class has been shrinking for decades, and the wealth gap is the largest it has ever been, that much is obvious.

That or you can be a CT and say it is planned and the MC is being wiped out on purpose

Top 10% is too high for middle class unless you are saying that is the upper limit.

That is specifically not what I said

I was speaking of the offshored jobs that left, that people want back, for some reason.

I voted Ye in 2020. RFK in 2024, b/c there were no candidates that aligned with my views.

I voted for the Prohibitionist party in 2008, because I totally want alcohol made illegal again, bro.

I meant cornel.

So you voted for someone on team maga?

And how was Kanye going to fix the economy? Lay out his plans for us.

Kanye probably wouldn’t have mandated a vaccine that didn’t work, so I’ll give you that one.
