Just want to point out how the narrative shifts from this isn't happening, to this is happening but it isn't that big a deal, to maybe it's a big deal but why should I care.

Read "Connected Child". Then we can have a discussion on childhood trauma.

Maybe you have a point.

I was traumatized by bussing when I was a kid. Piling kids into a bus and taking them away from their neighborhood school to some unknown place across town with strange people was awful.

Absolutely horrible.

I have hated big government ever since.

That's rough. If only you had been prepared for that leading up to the big moment, and been around other kids who were excited and had been told to, and has parents assuring you that you'd see them in a few hours.

It's a horror show.

Remember that you were the one who brought up this dumb arse example.

frick you

I am sick of this God damned dramatic horse shite.

Just let every mother fricker who buys a kid and brings them into the country to stroll right in and get the full gamut of benefits thrown at them because they probably will eventually vote for democrats.

The timing of this "crisis" is pretty fricking convenient.

Don’t think for a minute that this is spontaneous. I’d be willing to bet every coyote in Central and South America are somehow being “encouraged” to send every kid they can rustle to the US border.

Sadly you are and I don't know anyone that would care enough to worry about you.

You really think children have it better in this situation than if they’re with their parents? Come on, think before you speak.

So they made a dangerous trek across Mexican wilderness, potentially led by human smugglers who have general disregard for their well being, risking their own lives and their children's lives to cross the American border and you find it ridiculous to assert that the living conditions the children are in while in U.S. custody are potentially better than those which they risked their lives to flee? How about the conditions they were in while on their journey? Were those better than being held in air conditioned facilities and being given hot food and water throughout the day? A bed to sleep in?

I think you should take your own advice about "thinking before you speak" unless you are ok with making yourself look the fool.

We are caring for these people. Paying for them. Housing them and feeding them while we sort out who these adults are, why they are here, and whether or not the children with them are actually even theirs, yet people like you want to cast American authorities as some inhumane, cruel entities going out of their way to torture these poor migrants. It is utterly laughable.

They are probably being saved. Any human trafficker could kidnap some kids, claim they are their chirruns, and dems think we should roll out the red carpet for them.

I'm not debating who's fault this policy is or if it's "all on the parents". Regardless on any of this, being separated from their parents in this fashion is going to be a very traumatic even for these kids, espcially the really young ones who can't process that they will see their parents again. When you hear "separation anxiety", this is what that refers to: they don't understand that when you leave, you will come back.

This is the big argument with a lot of you. It's dismissive and reductive. Like when people were upset about NN being revoked, "did anyone die today". It's like your metric for bad only involves death.

So we have to wait for your ilk to starve them to death or gas them before we call you out? Have you ever spent any time in a tent outside near the southern border? Goes from unbearable heat during the day to freezing cold at night. Campers and hikers have special equipment to deal with the extreme weather. But you want to concentrate your kidnapped children outside in tent cities.

No, we won't wait until they are dead, despite what you want.

Yeah, like a month after the new policy went into effect. What kind of timing did you expect?
